June 2013
The Spring Market is coming to an end with Summer starting at the end of this week. Sales are brisk and buyers are still out looking. We are seeing competition on some properties and there are even some escalation clauses. Interest rates have started to rise although they still remain at historically low levels. It seems that buyers are jumping off the fence to purchase before prices rise more and rates increase more.
Please see the articles in the right hand column about rising interest rates and why sellers should not wait because they think values will go up further. It is an interesting time indeed in the real estate world.

It is now easier to search the Multiple Listing Service for homes with upgraded map searches, there is more information on Schools, more Community information, easy access to information on upcoming open houses in Montgomery County and DC as well as links to pictures and disclosures for my listings. Please scan the QR code at the bottom of this article to take a test drive.

Why 3% mortgage rates are a thing of the past

Say goodbye to ultra-low mortgage rates.
This week, the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage jumped another 10 percentage points to 3.91% and are up from 3.3% in early May, according to mortgage giant Freddie Mac. Meanwhile, those seeking a 15-year loan received an average rate of 3.03%, up from 2.56% -- a record low.
