These are some photos that I took back in Malta:

The following photos are more examples I took for texture. This is a very old tree log with coins inserted in it, forming a continuous texture along its veins.

TYPES OF TEXTURE PHOTOGRAPHY

1. Texture for Detail

a. With this type of texture photography, the detail in the surface of the object being photographed is the most important aspect of an image. The actual object is of lesser importance. When this technique is used, the image is often shot as a macro shot in order to move in very close to emphasize the detail or as a partial object shot where only a portion of the object is photographed

2. Texture for Drama

a. With this second approach to texture photography, the texture is used to add drama to an image

3. Texture for Information

a. The third type of texture photography uses texture to help communicate information about an image.
