Pialba State School 2018 Staff Handbook Welcome to 2018 at Pialba State School. I extend a warm welcome to my returning staff and to our new staff members, welcome. The following handbook provides information for staff to understand the school’s direction and is to be used as a reference document in the daily operations of the school. It is an expectation that all staff have read this handbook. 2018 priorities are narrow and focused on improving the consistency of teaching and learning in our classrooms through the consistent and researched based approaches. The terms PURPOSE and CONSISTECY as well school and staff data literacy will be the platform on which we show growth in: 1. Clear purpose and consistent approach to the implementation of Australian curriculum and the engagement and knowledge of staff and students. 2. Clear purpose and consistent approach in improving reading achievement for all students. 3. Clear purpose and consistent approach in improving numeracy achievement for all students. 4. Clear purpose and consistent approach in improving student attendance at Pialba State School. 5. Clear purpose and consistent approach in the implementation student behaviour through explicit teaching of PBL and enactment of the RBP by all staff. 2018 is the year of CONSISTENT PURPOSE. The successful improvement of student performance and behaviour can only be achieved through the consistent application and engagement of all staff across the whole school. Welcome to 2018 at Pialba State School. I extend a warm welcome to my returning staff and to our new staff members, welcome. The following handbook provides information for staff to understand the school’s direction and is to be used as a reference document in the daily operations of the school. CONSISTENT PURPOSE. The successful improvement of student performance and behaviour can only be achieved through the consistent application and engagement of all staff across the whole school. The school has set targets and timelines which will be reviewed throughout the terms. These targets and timelines have been set in consultation with external reviews and were identified as a priority in the School’s Priority Review in 2015/16. These targets can be found in the School Annual Implementation Plan. ‘

ACTIVE LEARNING This is the mantra to be used with student and their families. It is an expectation that all staff are fully conversant with the school’s Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students and implements all proactive and reactive measures in line with the positive behaviour for learning.

organized for the week. Admin has supported this motion and is in agreeance with the thoughts of the staff. –When will be have staff meeting? Day only as they will be fortnightly for 2 hours.

b) Lunchtime – this was raised in discussion with staff who would like to have lunch after playtime with duties at this time covered by staff from those teaching sectors. E.g. – 5/6 eating area will has a teacher who teachers Yr. 5 or Yr. 6 so that they are there to deal with issues as they come off the oval, know the students and can speak to the class teacher when they come to collect the students from their lined up area.

c) Before school supervision – 8: 00 to 8:40 is this for all classes? If we go with these times, EVERY student must have something to read for 10 mins 8:30 – 8:40a.m.. This will mean every classroom ensures student have a home reader. Admin will have a trolley of books for occasions when a student forgets to bring their book in their port.
