Hello Students and Families, Welcome to week 4 of Remote learning…

This week's Read Aloud is “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs”. Here students can reflect back to the story “The Three Little Pigs” and think about who they believe is telling the “true story” because this week the wolf is telling his story! We will also work on addition using a number line. I have added some useful worksheets, so you have a better understanding of how to use a number line when adding. Don’t forget to practice your sight words! We will be revisiting the “bossy r”. The “bossy r” takes over the vowel sound in a word. Scroll down and take a look. Let’s not forget our “small moments” writing. There’s lots to do, but do not get overwhelmed. Just do what you can.

My availability for communication for students and parents during remote-learning will be from 10:00- 12:00.As always, I am available to you via email and phone.

As you are aware children and adults thrive on a schedule and routine. I have created the lessons for the week in an easy to follow age appropriate schedule. However, I am aware that you are juggling many jobs right now and this schedule may conflict with your routines and commitments. Please do your best because you know your child and family best.

I will monitor all students via iReady (reading & math), Raz-Kids (reading level), and one writing sample per week of writers workshop or journal response to our story of the week.

This week’s read aloud is “The TRUE Story of the 3 Little Pigs”. It is told by the wolf! This is his side of the story. This is his opinion about what he says “really” happened. I wonder who you believe?Do you believe The 3 Little Pigs or The Big Bad Wolf?

What is an “opinion? It is our personal belief based upon how we feel or what we know. We have read many versions of the “Three Little Pigs” in the past few weeks. This week...the wolf is telling his side of the story and sometimes when we listen to someone's story we listen for the “evidence”.

Mr. Alexander Wolf or as he likes to be called “Al” is in jail! Why? Well, I hope you listened to this week’s read aloud to find out. And, when you are done….write, share if you believe his story after listening to all the evidence he tells you.

What: A folktale is a genre. A group of stories with similar characteristics or things that are the same. Over the

next few weeks we will explore folktales. We will look for the characteristics in each book. We will also look at how authors create new books by changing some of the story elements (characters, setting, and problem) to make new stories.
