Thing 3: Visual Learning

Many students are visual learners. As an educator, I need to create visual tools for these students. Visual tools can helps these students learn, as well as make learning creative and fun. Students can “see” what they are learning through these visual activities. The visual tools down below are on my diigo site, https://www.diigo.com/user/zoerhoffm .

The link above explains 108 different ways to use word clouds in my classroom. According to studies, students who perceive learning as fun and creative learn material easier. Wordle lets me use fun colors and different shapes to create this type of atmosphere for my students.

Another visual tool I will use in my classroom is a popplet. A popplet is a mind mapping visual. I created a mind web, for how to create a 5 paragraph essay. Many middle schoolers struggle with this, so in the future they can quick look this visual tool up, and can use this to create their own mind map. Their mind map will be an outline that looks like a web. This creative way of mapping will help my students write creative and efficiently.http://popplet.com/

I used an infographic to create this plot summary of Percy Jackson. Although I do not have it figured out all of the way, I think this could be a great resource to use in my classroom. This one will help students figure out plot summaries. http://piktochart.com/
