Practice your fine motor activities at home: Can you thread some pasta onto string or straws to make a bracelet or a necklace, Help your grown up to peg out some washing, or snip around the top of an old toilet or kitchen roll to create hair, decorate by adding eyes nose and mouth 😊 .

Ask your child to practise copying the letters of their name or tracing over their name – make sure you pick up on letter formation. Practise one letter at a time. If you’re super at writing your first name, why not try practicing your surname?

Here are our ‘One-Armed Robot Letters’. Can you practice writing any? You could use pencils, chalks, felt tip pens, mould them with playdough, draw them with a paintbrush and water outdoors. There are lots of different and fun ways to practice our letters! 😊

Can you practice moving around at different speeds- super slow, slow, normal, fast, super-fast. Be careful not to bump into anything, maybe practice this in your garden with an adult.

Practice moving your body in different ways, star jumps, jumping on the spot, running on the spot, hopping, crawling, rolling etc.

Phonic activities Place lots of different noisy objects from around your home in a bag. Such

as keys, crisp packets, money, squeaky toys. Anything that makes a noise. Show the objects and make the noises for your child to hear. Hide them back into the bag. Secretly make a noise from one of the objects. Can they guess what sound you have chosen without looking? Why don’t you swap and you can guess the noise your child has chosen?

Make some listening bottles. Using your empty bottles, add rice, pasta, pulses, poms poms, cotton wool etc into the bottles. Make sure there is

two of each. Cover/decorate the bottles in paper or tin foil. Can you match the correct bottles together using just the sounds?

Practice clapping the syllables in your name. What about practicing clapping your families’ names? Can you clap the syllables of everyday objects around you?

Practice rhyming words. Can you think of words that rhyme with cat, tree, dog, fox, frog, ball? Can you think of any different rhyming words? Can you match the rhyming words below?

Go on a number hunt – spot numbers on gates, cars, posters, road signs, clocks, watches, coins., shops, footballers etc.

Practice counting forwards to 15 and backwards from 10. Use this number line to help you.

Use a range of jugs/ cups/ mugs/ spoons/ anything you can collect water with. Talk about if the cup is full/empty/half full etc. To make it even more exciting, you could add some paint or glitter to your water to change the colour 😊

Kim’s game – Chose 4 or 5 objects and name them. Cover them with a cloth. Can you remember what’s under the cloth? Or shut your eyes and take turns to remove on object. Open your eyes, what’s missing?

Can you guess which has more or fewer in these pictures? You could collect items from around your home e.g. put some bananas/oranges on plate which plate has more, which plate has fewer? You can do this with lots of objects around your home. Socks, pasta, toys, blocks.

Create a number guessing game like the one below. You could use paper cups or bowls if you haven’t got plastic eggs. Can you guess what number the chick or toy is hiding under? Ask your grown up to help play this game with you.

. Draw some pictures of your family, your favourite food, your favourite

animal or even your favourite character from a story. Can you tell your grown up about your picture?

Can you help make an edible caterpillar for lunch? You will need some grapes or apple slices to make the body, a cherry tomato or strawberry slice for its face, and either edible googly eyes or raisins for the eyes. Then enjoy reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar afterwards!

Follow the recipe to make some Easter Nests

225g/8oz plain chocolate, broken into pieces.

2 tbsp golden syrup

50g/2oz butter

75g/2¾oz cornflakes

36 mini chocolate eggs

Method1. Line a 12-hole fairy cake tin with paper cases.2. Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl set over a saucepan

of gently simmering water (do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Stir the mixture until smooth.

3. Remove the bowl from the heat and gently stir in the cornflakes until all of the cereal is coated in the chocolate.

4. Divide the mixture between the paper cases and press 3 chocolate eggs into the centre of each nest. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour, or until completely set.

Understanding of the world

Head out for a family walk together and see what signs of Spring you can find together. It could be buds on trees, new flowers appearing, baby lambs or might see some frog spawn in a pond. 😊

Use some pots/ pans, spoons, baking trays to create your own drums/instruments. Can you sing along to some of our Easter songs at the top of the sheet and play your own music along to them. Can you play loudly/ quietly, fast/Slow?

Other activities

Play some turn taking activities, such as board games, rolling or throwing the ball to your grown up or siblings.

Can you guess how these children are feeling? Use a mirror to practice these feelings using your face.

Have a movie, pyjama and duvet day. Share your favourite movies. Talk about what you like about it. Make some popcorn and mix your favourite drinks. Maybe even draw and write about it.

Treasure hunt around your home.

Create a map of your home and hide small items around it. Mark each piece of hidden treasure on the map. Explain the map to your little one and offer your support for the hunting game in case they need it. Even once they have found all the treasure, why not get them to organise their own hunt? They could draw their own map!

Decorating eggs  is another Easter-inspired craft, for these, all you need is some hard-boiled eggs and then all the crafts you can think of - from paint and pens to stickers or glitter. 😊
