2019-2020 Course: Guitar I-IV (Honors) Teacher: Mr. Juan Turros E-mail: [email protected] Welcome to Mr. Turros’ 2019-2020 Guitar Class. If you are enrolled in this course it is probably because you want to learn music at a deeper level. You may want to learn an instrument you can play with others, learn music for your own personal enjoyment, or to be able to accompany yourself while you sing. All of these concepts will be covered in my class. My goal, as your teacher and mentor, is to make you as musically independent as possible. In guitar class, we will be learning to read individual notes on the musical staff (one at a time), then chords (several notes at once). Eventually we will be playing complex songs and even 4-part arrangements! * There is ALWAYS Home Learning! A practice schedule at home is important so that the pace of the class does not suffer. Please allow your child an allotted time and area in which to practice daily. This will insure that lessons stay fresh in their minds and fingers. This will benefit the entire class. Unlike other classes, your actions and participation in this class will dictate the pace and quality of the class as a whole. We are a team! Since the class is performance based, you will be responsible for mandatory attendance at two major recitals. The first will be before winter break (Winter Concert), and the second will be at the end of the school year (Spring Concert). Guitar students will be performing along side Mr. Turros’ Guitar Class SASP Class Syllabus and Performance Agreement
