4. BOTOX

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Botox

(onabotulinumtoxinA) is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles.

WHAT IS IN BOTOX? Botox is made from donated human plasma. Although donated plasma is tested and treated to reduce the risk of contamination, there is still a small possibility it may contain viruses or other infectious agents that could transmit disease.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? Botox is used to prevent chronic migraine headaches in adults who have migraines for more than 15 days per month, each lasting 4 hours or longer. This medicine should not

5. PLATELETS-RICH PLASMA.

WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA?

Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is the yellow liquid part of your spun blood.

WHAT IS IN PRP?

The PRP injections contain numerous proteins – alpha granules, pro-coagulants protein, megakaryocytes-induced growth factors, PRP clot and serum — that play an essential role in the body’s healing process. Growth factors found within these platelets

simultaneously stimulate wound healing and rejuvenation.

WHERE DOES PRP COME FROM?

To prepare a PRP injection, blood is removed from a patient and inserted into a special centrifuge to separate platelets from other blood cells. Platelets, your own blood product, is then micro-needled into the designated area of your own body (autologous).

The Asian Journal of Transfusion Science published the Efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in treatment of androgenic alopecia in 2015 finding:“Three months after the treatment, the patients presented clinical improvement in the hair counts, hair thickness, hair root strength, and overall alopecia.” The study concluded “PRP appears to be a cheap, effective, and promising therapy for androgenic alopecia with no major adverse effects”.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

As in natural occurrence, when the skin is wounded, the body sends platelets to the injury site to stop the bleeding. These platelets’ Growth factors instantaneously

IS THERE ANY PAIN? While it’s normal to feel some pressure from the injections, but if it’s done properly it shouldn’t be painful. Local anesthetics can also be used to minimize the pain.
