How to go to Anilao from Manila

1. From Manila, take the SLEX (South Luzon Expressway). Make an exit at the end of SLEX then drive towards Sto. Tomas.

2. Make the turn to the STAR Tollway Entrance (this is about about 7 km from the SLEX Exit).

3. Drive all the way to end of STAR Tollway (around 42 kms) and make an exit at the end. Expect to pass by these exits, Sambat, Malvar Lipa, and Ibaan.

4. Drive around 4 kms towards Batangas Port then make a turn at the Bauan Road Overpass.

5. Continue to drive around 6 kms towards the Bauan-Mabini junction. Expect to pass by the Sta. Rita and San Pascual before reaching Bauan-Mabini junction.

6. After reaching Bauan-Mabini junction, drive 9 km up to the Mabini-Anilao junction. Expect to pass by a Petron Depot 2 kms before you reach that junction.

7. Upon reaching Mabini-Anilao junction, take the turn towards Anilao and drive some more 1.6 kms ahead.

8. Now you have finally reached Anilao and take your pick of the best resorts in the areas. See the list below for guidance.

How to get to Laiya, San Juan

1. Take the SLEX and drive all the way to 2nd to the last exit or Exit 50 going to Batangas-Lucena-Legazpi.

2. Then, drive 6.5 kms heading towards the STAR Tollway entrance.

3. Drive 20 kms through the STAR Toll Way and take the LIPA Exit. From this exit, make a right turn towards Lipa City.

4. Drive through the road leading to LIPA CITY, drive until you see La Salle Lipa (on the left) and Petron (on your right). Then, you will see a Mc Donalds upon reaching a Y-intersection, make a RIGHT TURN to C.M. Recto Avenue.

5. Drive thru C.M. Recto straight until you see a Mercury Drug Store on a corner where you need to make a RIGHT TURN again to P. Torres Street. Expect to drive some 8.5 kms towards Padre Garcia town.

6. Turn LEFT when you see the sign pointing to Padre Garcia. Drive all the way until you see Padre Garcia public market and make a RIGHT TURN after passing the market.

7. Continue driving approximately 5 kms and merge with the Rosario road. Drive all the way to San Juan proper which is 20 kms away.

8. If you see the sign leading to Batangas racing Circuit, take the left side of the road. This will take you to San Juan town proper.

9. Upon reaching the San Juan town proper, drive until you reach the SAN JUAN MUNICIPAL Hall and make an immediate RIGHT TURN from there. You are now on the main road going to Laiya where most of the famed beach resorts are located. You will start finding these resorts 25 kms away from this turn.

Matabungkay Beach in Lian

Matabungkay beach is reasonably accessible from Metro Manila and is often chosen as a weekend or daytrip getaway by many people. It is touted as one of the best beaches in Batangas due to its crystal clear waters with white sand (though not as white as the one found in famous Boracay in Aklan). The 5-km stretch of beach in Matabungkay is a quiet haven for beach lovers everywhere.

How to get to Matabungkay thru SLEX

1. Take the SLEX, exit at Sta. Rosa or Silang Exit.

2. Drive up to Tagaytay, after km 92 turn right to Lian and Nasugbo.

3. When you see the Shell Station, make a left turn to Lian and Calatagan.

4. Drive straight through the Calatagan road until you find signs pointing to any of the beach resorts of your choice.

Calatagan Beach

How to get to Calatagan

Calatagan is approximately 125 kms from Manila and may be reached via private vehicle in 2.5 to 3 hours drive either thru the SLEX-STAR Toll Way link, or thru Aguinaldo Hi-way then Tagaytay. It depend on time of the day or holiday which route is best to take. Traffic can be a nightmare in the Tagaytay Ridge during heavy season such as the Holyweek when people flock these areas. To be safe, it is best to start your travel early or before the sunrise to get to your destinations faster.

Calatagan via SLEX:

1. Take the SLEX, exit at STA. ROSA Exit and drive up all the way to Tagaytay around 21 kms.

2. From Tagaytay, drive all the way south heading towards Nasugbu, Batangas. You will encounter Tagaytay Rotonda, now take the road where a 7-11 is located, then drive for about 1.5 hours until you reach Tuy town where you will find the Nasugbo-Lian junction. Don't worry there are road signs to guide you that you are now in this junction.

3. Upon reaching the Nasugbo-Lian Junction, TURN LEFT, you will cross a bridge and drive 1.8 kms until you reach Lian town proper. Expect to drive about an hour more.

4. Just drive straight about 11 kms on the same road until you reach a junction (Matabungkay) which leads to the Hiway going to Balayan then to Calatagan town.

5. Expect to drive 13.5 kms to Calatagan town. Upon reaching Calatagan town, drive until you see St. Domino de Silos Church then make a RIGHT TURN to St. Domingo Street.

6. Shortly, make a LEFT TURN at M. Apacible Street and expect to drive 2-5 kms more and you will find a line of resorts in the area.

Bauan Beach

Bauan, Batangas is home to a long stretch of rocky beach line, ideal for diving. The beach is quite rocky with a lot of coral formations so those visitors looking for Boracay-quality fine white sand may be disappointed and advised to look elsewhere.
