Role Statement

This position is responsible for assisting the Branch on a project by project basis in the undertaking of policy development and related projects. This role will be allocated across the Directorate as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. POLICY AND RESEARCH

1.1 As a member of a team, assists in the provision of support, information and policy advice in accordance with the Department's strategic direction.

1.2 Supports and participates in the research and preparation of reports, submissions, website information, publications and correspondence.

1.3 Assists with research and review of policy on relevant projects.

1.4 Performs data management activities as delegated.

1.5 Assists with the preparation of Ministerial responses, Briefing Notes and Cabinet Submissions and reports.

1.6 Assists in research, analysis, monitoring and evaluation of information relevant to the development of planning, policy and reporting requirements.

1.7 Liaises with managers and departmental staff in relation to policy and project matters.

2. OTHER

2.1 Performs other duties as directed.

Essential Work-Related Requirements (Selection Criteria)

1. Well-developed communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to prepare correspondence and reports.

2. Experience in PC-based applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation packages.

3. Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

4. Well-developed conceptual, research and analytical skills.5. Ability to work in a team environment; prioritise work and meet deadlines.

Desirable Work-Related Requirements (Selection Criteria)

1. Possession of or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification.

Essential Eligibility Requirements / Special Appointment Requirements

1. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
