*CALL TO WORSHIP (read responsively) O come let us adore him.

Like the Magi of old, we come to lift our voices and praise the savior of the world.

O come let us adore him. Like ancient Israel, we will proclaim the kindness of the Lord, his deeds and all that the Lord has done for

us. O come let us adore him.

Like the ancient believers, we rejoice that Jesus loved us, had mercy on us, and redeemed us. O Come let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

*HYMN "Angels We Have Heard on High" UMH # 238

THE WORD IS PROCLAIMEDPrayer of Confession

It's the week after Christmas    And all through the houseIs there praise for our Savior   By children or spouse?Monday our home was noisy    filled with excitement and gleeAs children and grown folks thought      Which gifts are for me?Forgive us Lord,     For paying our gifts so much attention    That we paid your miraculous birth little heed.Forgive us Lord,

For getting impatient with our "religious relative" Who insisted that we pause to offer thanks for your birth.

Forgive us Lord,    For spending too much on gifts    That yield temporary happiness.Forgive us Lord,     For amassing so many Christmas memories    That barely mention your name.Forgive us Lord,    And remind us of the miracle of your birth    The significance of your life    The sacrifice of your death    All that we might live anew as children of Jesus Christ.

OUR RESPONSE

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYEROur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen
