Introducing - Jeff and Marcia Baker

The Bakers live SW of Park Rapids on an acreage

with animals, gardens and a wonderful creek. The fam-

ily has attended Faith for 11 years. Jeff and Marcia

have three boys at home, Joshua, Jordan and Justin.

The boys are involved in Awana and enjoy hockey and baseball.

Jeff was born in Hastings, MN. Due to his father’s employment, the family

lived in IL, NE, RI, WI, and Mexico. Jeff has worked in construction, processing,

furniture making and presently works for RDO farms. He enjoys playing guitar

on the Faith Praise Team as well as fishing, hunting and gardening.

Marcia was born in Minneapolis and lived in TX and MI before returning to

Minneapolis to complete a degree in child psychology. She is currently em-

ployed at Hugo’s Market. She spends her free time escorting the three boys to

activities, being an Awana Leader, gardening and reading.

The Bakers appreciate the friends and fellowship they’ve found at Faith and

wish to continue living and doing what God desires for them.

2 Timothy 3:14 “As for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed.”

Faith Prayer Ministry

Been Baptized? It’s simple. Jesus instructed, “Believe and be baptized.”

And that’s what those who chose to follow Him did. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward conversion experience – and it’s a cele-

bration into a new life. We are planning an baptismal service on August 25. If you’d like to be baptized, or need more information,

contact the office soon.

Parish Nurses

The Parish Nurses have been asked about transitions in life

and services available in our area. Senior Providers of Hub-

bard County has provided information that we have put

into a brochure form, an excellent quick reference of local

resources that can be shared with the church family.

These resources will be more fully explained at the September Faith Force

Meeting on Sept.23 and can be found on the enclosed brochure.

Inviting Missions-Minded Women of Faith to come and join the Faith

Mission Circle: every 3rd Monday of each month at 9:30 AM in the

Coffee Shop.

We meet to fellowship and discuss the recent happen-

ings and prayer requests of our missionaries.

Some of the things we do include:

*Ongoing financial support for our missionaries

*Support and participation in our Missions Conference

*Providing missionary speakers

*Annual Thanksgiving Celebration--If you've never attended, it's

such a fun time! Delicious pies and many other items are auc-

tioned to provide a special Christmas offering for our missionaries.

Our greatest emphasis is prayer for our missionaries. During each meeting,

we discuss prayer requests, followed by prayer, and encourage each other

to continually pray for the safety, needs, and ministry of our missionaries.

Come visit. We hope you'll decide to stay and become a part of this

rewarding ministry.

Thots of Christmas in July!

ARE YOU READY TO THINK “INSIDE” THE BOX?...A SHOEBOX, THAT IS! As a church, Faith has promoted the packing and giving of Operation Christmas

Child Shoeboxes at Christmas time. For a lot of us, money is tight during Novem-

ber…SO… let’s start now!!

Instead of each of us packing an individual box, between now

and November we would like to promote the idea of bringing items, to a central

collection box and then have a gathering time to pack-a-shoebox with donated

items in individual, provided boxes. The purpose is to buy items to donate when

they are on sale or when we are able to purchase them.

The following list is suggestions for items generally purchased for a box. Each

month we will highlight particular items BUT remember that you can donate any

of them from now thru October. We are hoping that we will receive enough items

to fill many shoeboxes in November.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or

markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper,

solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc. (August)

HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic

bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

TOYS: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-

yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise

(with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.

OTHER: Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints,

gum, T-shirts, socks, mittens, caps ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy

jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries) (September)

DO NOT INCLUDE: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as

toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; liquids or lotions;

medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow-globes or glass

containers; aerosol cans

These are the age breakdowns. (2-4; 5-9; 10-14) Keep in mind gifts for

both girls and boys. Please understand, you can also fill your own box as before,

if you wish. To make this a success…we will need many participants and many

items. Decorated Totes are available in each Foyer for your contributions.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

Summer Update from Faith Student Ministry:

In June our cup was overflowing. Our Frontier Mission Trip to Canada

brought us face to face with the culture and depravity of those experiencing

homelessness in urban settings such as Winnipeg. Our team served and ex-

perienced daily venues at the Siloam Mission that brought clarity. Before

our international trip across the border we spent some extended time cruis-

ing through each of the three surrounding reservations (White Earth to the

West, Red Lake to the North, and Cass Lake/Leech Lake to the East) on what

we have come to call a "Prayer Tour". Upon our return to the states, we set-

tled in for a couple days at Mokahum Ministry Center (Outreach of Oak Hills

Center for Indian Ministries- Cass Lake) to tangibly invest our time and en-

ergy in the ongoing renovations of the campus.

Without coming home, our mission team doubled in size for

an extended canoe trip. Our days on the River were filled

with laughter, singing, and some discipleship intensives led by

FSM alumni. Recapping our half a month away from family

and friends - Daily Divine appointments sustained our team, Christ-like char-

acter and development was solidified among team members, and we were

able through the Holy Spirit to continue a legacy that amplified the Name of

Jesus everywhere along the route.

July has been sporadic with many students staggering their days with work,

vacation, camp, etc... Many of us have had the opportunity and privilege to

participate at camp some as staff, others as campers - speaking, counseling,

training, sweating, or camping in an environment that has a green house ef-

fect on our spiritual lives.

August will be ramping up with some:

☺ "Fireside Fellowship" on the weekends

☺ ValleyFair tentatively scheduled for Tuesday August 13th

☺ Missions and Movie Night slated for Thursday August 15th

☺ Annual Back to School - Medallion Hunt. (Date to be announced)

MISSION NEWS:

Pray for Beka, Katie, Tim and Simon as they continue to serve and lead

other teams in West Virginia at Community Crossing. Pray for unity, encour-

agement, perseverance and a closer walk with God while fulfilling their du-

ties. Also, that they will come home with a clearer understanding of the

commitment it takes to follow where Jesus leads, and a desire to do that.

In August:

David and Rita Blake with Anna, Ruby, Laura and Mary, are leaving Aug. 4th

for Indonesia where David will continue language development and transla-

tion. Remember David and his family as they return to serve in East Asia.

Amy Trottier, Lynda Sullivan, Jenna and Lorelei Polley will be going to Gua-

temala. From August 4rd

through the 11,th

they will be serving at Precious

Moments School in Guatemala City, and at an orphanage in Antigua. Re-

member them in prayer as they prepare, travel, and minister to “throw away

kids” and the adults who mentor and care for them. Financial support is wel-

come. Sherry Trottier, Amy’s mom, had planned on going but due to her

back issues, she is unable to go. Please pray for her healing.

Please pray for these servants who are leaving the safety and security of

“home” to reach those God has laid on their hearts. In September:

Gayle and Jamie Pund will be visiting on the 8th

and Tammy Scofield will be

here on the 15th
