web 2.0 for jewish education
DESCRIPTION
This was a power point made for my presentation at the recent BJENY conference. The presentation was focused on using Web 2.0 tools in Judaic classes. While, I explained the practical use of each site at the presentation, these slides should be a useful resource. Enjoy. -EliezerTRANSCRIPT

WHAT IS WEB 2.0?
The term Web 2.0 is commonly associated with
web applications that facilitate interactive information
sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and
collaboration on the World Wide Web.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0
You require your students to use a variety of sources for their research projects...and they cite blogs, podcasts, and interviews they've conducted via Skype.
Your students work on collaborative projects...with students in Israel.
You give weekly class updates to parents...via your blog.
Your students participate in class...by tweeting their questions and comments.
You ask your students to do a character/biblical person study...and they create mock social media profiles of their character.
Top Ten Signs you are a 21st Century Teacher
Your students create a study guide...working together on a group wiki.
You share lesson plans with your teacher friends...from around the globe.
You take your students on a field trip to the Kotel...and never leave your classroom.
You make your students turn in their cell phones before class starts...because you plan on using them in class.
You showcase your students' original work...to the world.

The truth is that technology will never replace teachers,
however teachers who know how to use technology effectively to help their students connect and
collaborate together online will replace those who do not.
