who were proficient or advanced in Mathematics. Dunbar Middle School missed the goal of 71.4% by

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OUR SCHOOL?

We need to find a way to increase attendance nearly 12%.

We need to find a way to increase scores in Mathematics nearly 45%.

We need to find a way to increase scores in Reading by nearly 39%.

WHAT ARE SOME OPTIONS?

Monitoring and increasing attendance by using a program like Truancy Call.

Create incentive programs for students who have Perfect/Near Perfect Attendance.

WHAT ARE SOME OPTIONS?

Invest in and implement a program like Study Island to help students master required skills.

Integrate Technology into daily instruction by training staff to differentiate instruction using technology, SMART Boards and LCD projectors.

TRUANCY CALL SERVICE

The Truancy Call service calls homes, texts parents and can do “wake up calls” to increase parent awareness of student attendance.

The service continues to contact the parent until the parent responds.

INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Attendance incentives that can range from school store rewards to field trips to encourage and reward good attendance practices.

A change in the belief system of the parents, school and community by making attendance something that is adequately monitored.

STUDY ISLAND

Study Island is a program that assesses students based on requirements for Standardized Testing in each state.

Study Island assesses students on each of the state standards and provides a program, rich with games and activities, that students can use to increase skill sets.

STUDY ISLAND

Teachers can assign Study Island assessments as homework and modify instruction based on the needs of the students identified.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Teachers of Mathematics and Reading will have access to an LCD projector, SMART Board and desktop computer with related programs to differentiate the instructional process.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Teachers of Mathematics and Reading will have leave time in order to attend Professional Development sessions provided by BCPSS to use the new technology in their classroom.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

All teachers will attend Professional Development for their content area and on integrating technology to improve instruction as

provided by BCPSS.

MONITORING PROGRESS

Usage of Study Island program will be monitored by administration.

School will provide professional development for teachers on using Study Island and implementing the data collected from the program.

Truancy Call program will be used by adminsitrative/office staff to monitor attendance data.

Teachers will receive leave time/compensational time if not paid by district for professional development sessions.

Use/Cost of programs will be evaluated annually by administrative staff.
