Date Wednesday 15 January 2015, 09:45 to 11:45The Heritage Lottery Fund recently awarded the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership scheme (OWLP) a grant of £905,100 to deliver a range of exciting projects between April 2014 and March 2017. The OWLP scheme is delivered jointly by a partnership consisting of 26 organisations, with Cambridgeshire ACRE as the lead partner.

The area covered by the Ouse Washes LP scheme stretches for nearly 50 km between St. Ives in Cambridgeshire and Downham Market in Norfolk. The OWLP area has a very distinct character, following from its unique drainage history, wetland habitat network and a largely unknown set of significant natural, historic and cultural heritage assets. The OWLP scheme aims to promote this unique heritage and get local people involved to ensure that the scheme brings the maximum benefit to local communities.

A diverse activity programme has been planned, consisting of community engagement events and projects in the realms of heritage, arts, farming and conservation work, bringing the stories of the landscape and its unique heritage to local people, schools, tourism businesses and visitors. A range of volunteering and skills training opportunities is also on offer, including community archaeological excavations, archival research and wetland habitat management. In addition, our new event, the ‘Festival Fortnights’, are planned for July 2015 and July 2016 and will provide something for everyone.

To find out more, please visit our website, www.ousewashes.org.uk, or our blog or Twitter pages; or contact the OWLP Programme Manager at [email protected] or on 01353 865030.

The WEA are pleased to announce the launch of our new suite of online digital platforms to help train, support, and provide guidance and new communication routes for our tutors, staff, students and volunteers. Through these platforms you will be able to undertake online courses, share resources, participate in discussions and online learning circles. Our Adult Learners Week national award winning ESOL Online programme is already housed on there with additional courses soon to be added.

In addition there is also the Learn Online Forum where all involved with the WEA can share ideas, thoughts, develop learning circles and easily communicate with everyone.

For training needs we have developed WEA Digital Surgeries where we run short online training seminars on a range of topics from WEA admin to I.T.
