WE WILL FULFILL OUR PLEDGES N. A. Semenov The socialist competition for a befitting completion of the jubilee year brought new achievements in the ful- fillment of the plan of economic development, an increase of the welfare of the nation, and the successful solution of the problems of building communism. At the Borovichskii refractories combine the workers of all shops and mines participated in this competition. The competition for the right to bear the name "Collective of the Semicentennial of October," which evolved on the initiative of the Leningrad Elektrosila Plant, became widespread at the combine. Its movement involved 124 brigades and 44 shifts and departments. The collectives and shockworkers of communist labor - people of creative thinking who give example in labor and study and who impart their experience to working comrades, are leading those in the competition. They are the trailblazers of many good works. For examp!e, shockworker of communist labor, molder of the No. 8 shol~ A. P. Belyaev, initiated the prescheduled fulfillment of the Five-Year Plan in honor of the 23rd Congress of the CPSU. By better organization of labor he pledged to fulfill the monthly production quotas by at least 137 % and to complete the first year of the Five-Year Plan on September 15, 1966, to fulfill the Five-Year Plan in three years and 10 months, to produce high-quality goods, and to count out ai least 90 % top-grade products. Molder Belyaev is successfully ful- filling his pledge. The iniuative of A. P. Belyaev has been taken up by many hundreds of our combine and city. Most of the workers in the combine have made specific pledges for the prescheduled fulfillment of the Five-Year Nan. The propagation of advanced working methods plays a major role in the improvement of labor skills and in an increase of labor productivity. There are 80 schools of communist labor experience involving more than 1000 persons operating in the shops of the combine. After the schools are held the productivity of labor generally rises, waste is reduced, and the quality of the goods produced increases. For example, at the No. 2 shop where charger Comrade Zaitsev conducted a school, the productivity of labor increased by 2.7% and rejects due to flaking of the charge dropped by 8.5% In the No. 5 shop the productivity of labor for pressing of runner pipes increased by 4.2% after presser Andreev held a school On January 27, 1967 the Board of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR and the Presidium of the Cen- tral Committee of the Trade Union Workers of the Metallurgical Industry awarded the collective of the combine a diploma for achieving high indexes in the socialist competition for 1966. This year the collective of the combine has converted to the new system of planning and economic stimulation. This imposes a greater responsibility both on management and on the trade union organizations. Working under the new conditions opens broad possibilities for the trade union organizations to actively influence production and education of the workers and creates favorable conditions for a further development of socialist competition and the communist labor movement. To organize the necessary incentive funds the combine must increase the vol- ume of sales by 905,000 rubies ir~ comparison with the plan approved for 1967, profit by 455,000 rubles, and productivity of labor by 1.5%. To fulfill this strenuous plan it is necessary to mobilize the entire collective to find and utilize available production reserves. In 1965 the combine began preparing workers, engineers, technicians, and em- ployees for the transition to the five-day work week with two free days. Experience has shown that in all groups after conversion to the five-day week has been accom- plished, the production quotas and socialist pledges have been fulfilled and overful- filled every month. The number of night shifts for the workers has been reduced, the productivity of labor has increased, wages have increased, and more free time is Plant Trade Union Committee of the Borovichskii Refractories Combine. The socialist competit ion for a befitting completion of the jubilee year brought new achievements in the ful- fillment of the plan of economic development, an increase of the welfare of the nation, and the successful solution of the problems of building communism. At the Borovichskii refractories combine the workers of all shops and mines participated in this competition. The competit ion for the right to bear the name "Collective of the Semicentennial of October," which evolved on the initiative of the Leningrad Elektrosila Plant, became widespread at the combine.

8 shol~ A. P. Nan.

On January 27, 1967 the Board of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR and the Presidium of the Cen- tral Commit tee of the Trade Union Workers of the Metallurgical Industry awarded the collective of the combine a diploma for achieving high indexes in the socialist competi t ion for 1966.

This year the collective of the combine has converted to the new system of planning and economic stimulation. This imposes a greater responsibility both on management and on the trade union organizations. Working under the

new conditions opens broad possibilities for the trade union organizations to actively influence production and education of the workers and creates favorable conditions for a further development of socialist competit ion and the communist labor movement.

To organize the necessary incentive funds the combine must increase the vol- ume of sales by 905,000 rubies ir~ comparison with the plan approved for 1967, profit by 455,000 rubles, and productivity of labor by 1.5%.

To fulfill this strenuous plan it is necessary to mobilize the entire collective to

find and utilize available production reserves.

In 1965 the combine began preparing workers, engineers, technicians, and em- ployees for the transition to the f ive-day work week with two free days. Experience has shown that in all groups after conversion to the f ive-day week has been accom- plished, the production quotas and socialist pledges have been fulfilled and overful- filled every month. available for study and relaxation. The working practice of these shops indicates that, under conditions of continu- ous production at the Borovichskii refractories combine, a four-brigade work schedule with days off after three work days is the most efficient for the reduced work week.

We can express confidence that the collective of the Borovichskii refractories combine, working under the con- ditions of the new system of planning and economic stimulation and on the shortened work week, will successfully complete the second year of the Five-Year PlalL
