United Way Increases Volunteer EngagementThis year, we aim to support and raise awareness around the community-wide and collective results agencies have, rather than focusing solely onindividual program achievements. Part of this work includes the creation ofa volunteer base that supports longer-term community impact work. Weenvision a model in which more volunteers serve year-round, dedicated toa single community issue. We will continue to engage volunteers in the grant review process. We willalso expand our engagement of volunteer talent in:

Building strong relationships with partner agenciesDeveloping expertise around social service issues in central NewMexicoGathering and analyzing dataTracking collective outcomes among agency partners

Encore Innovation Fellow BJ Jones, Center for Nonprofit ExcellenceDirector Amy S. Duggan, and Community Fund Grants Manager AriHerring are working to grow our talented volunteer base and launch theHunger Catalyst Project. The pilot will start with a handful of selectvolunteers partnering with hunger relief organizations in our community. These teams will create processes and tools to evaluate program results, utilize the results to increase organizational learning, and understand thecollective results they have in the community. We anticipate that this pilot opportunity will evolve and engage new talentover the next six to twelve months. We will launch additional volunteerteams as we learn from this pilot. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ari Herring or BJ Jones or call (505) 247-3671.
