We make the architects creative idea come true
Specialists in bending...
Every day we transform straight profiles of steel and aluminium into intricately curved shapes, allowing for an almost endless range of geome- tric possibilities. The only limitation to the complexity and possibilities that section bending offers is your imagination. Our philosophy is that everything is possible, and our skilled and dedicated bending specialists prove that daily by the pride and care they take in their work. We have one of the world’s most specialized teams and with our advanced machine park, we can solve even the most impossible tasks. Our determination and unswerving dedication to quality means that to us, only the best is good enough. Profile bending without limits.
One Angel Square,
Manchester
The One Angel Square building in Manchester
is an impressive 30.349 m2 building containing
4.000 workplaces for The Cooperative Group.
The construction work commenced in 2010
and it was finished in March 2013. The building
has won several design awards for its
impressive architecture and cutting edge
energy efficiency.
SJOLUND delivered 700 different anodized
aluminium profiles. All profiles were individually
marked and packaged in kits ready for
installation on-site.
Opus, Dubai
The Opus building in Dubai is designed by
Zaha Hadid. The building has 21 floors
featuring among other things, a 5-star
hotel and 96 luxury apartments.
SJOLUND delivered over 10.000
different 3D bended window profiles,
individually packaged and identified for full
traceability from production to installation.

Frankfurt Airport
SJOLUND bent all the tubing needed to
construct this 145-meter long, 14-meter high,
self-supporting column-free glass dome.
By using section bending technology on the
elliptical segments, the number of welds and
joints were minimized.
The differing radii transitions were checked
using laser cut templates, which helped
ensure a smooth assembly.
The wave in Vejle
Architect Henning Larsen is responsible for a
spectacular piece of architecture, sitting on
the waterfront in Vejle. Here two waves contain
apartments with a fantastic view of the town,
waterfront and woods. Each wave consists of
10 floors and the structure is 38 meters high.
SJOLUND supplied the beams giving the
building is unique shape
City Library in Växjö
The City Library in Växjö is a unique library
as it was decided to build it as a rotunda.
The architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen
used glass, steel and aluminium to create
an impressive landmark. For the facade of
the building, SJOLUND supplied 139
profiles each with a flashing for the curved
windows. The building is made more unique
by the elliptical skylight, which SJOLUND
supplied the curved frames for. The section
bent flashings on the building, is comprised
of 15 different, specially
extruded Z, L and U
profiles
Hannover Trade Fair
The new elliptical Skywalk at Hannover Trade
Fair is 400 meters long and made of steel,
aluminium, and glass. Advanced section ben-
ding methods made it possible for SJOLUND
to accommodate the requirements to the
structures precision and uniformity, which in the
end allowed for optimum ease of installation.
The Gemini Building
The Gemini Residence is a residential building
on Islands Brygge in Copenhagen. The building
is a 42-foot-tall converted grain storage that
belonged to Danish Soybean-cake Factory. The
grain storage was originally built in 1963 and
was refurbished from 2002 to 2005, to contain
84 apartments. The apartments were attached
to the outside of the silos, leaving the finished
building resembling a figure-eight from above.
The interior has been maintained as an
almost empty space, used for lobby, stairs,
and elevators. The roof is comprised of a
curved glass ceiling, for which SJOLUND
supplied aluminium profiles to German
Foiltec
GmbH. Additionally, SJOLUND delivered vari-
ous angle and flat steel profiles for the curved
balconies. The building is designed by archi-
tects MVRDV, from the Netherlands and JJW
from Denmark. NCC was responsible for
the construction.
Civic Hall
Civic Hall is located in Bedworth city center,
where the building acts as an entertainment
center, offering facilities to a wide range of
artistic activities, for the community of Bed-
worth and its surrounding area. SJOLUND
delivered the curved shading profiles that
can be seen in the pictures.
Shude Hill Interchange Manchester
As a central traffic hub in the inner city near Victoria
Station, the Shude Hill Interchange connects the main bus
and railway lines. With comfortable waiting areas and a
multi-storage parking garage. SJOLUND was responsible
for the bending of aluminium facade profiles with small
radii.
Profile KAWNEER 868-496 (238,60x50x3 mm) rolled on the
strong axis in R 1415 mm. A total of 75 curved segments were
delivered.
McLaren Technology Centre
McLaren Technology Centre is the commercial and production
headquarters for the McLaren Group. This impressive building,
which is designed by the famous architect Lord Foster, has
collected all of the McLaren Groups activities under one roof.
SJOLUND delivered 48 pieces of 3-dimensional bull-nose
profiles R203 180° in 2 mm aluminium plate
Copenhagen Airport
In January 2007, a new indoor walkway connecting the
foreign and domestic terminals at Copenhagen Airport
was opened for use. In the new 300-meter long connection
there are moving walkways in both directions on the first floor
and a direct access to the lounges in Terminal 1. SJOLUND’
contribution to the project consisted of section
bending window frames for the 46 rectangular
windows that are located along the
walkway, along with frames for the
triangular window at the end of
the walkway.

OIE
One Island East is at a height of 308 meters and 69
floors, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Hong Kong.
The office building is designed with a unique facade,
developed by Christian Pohl GmbH, Köln. SJOLUND
supplied the 2- and 3-dimensional bull-nose profiles
used in the construction.
Heat treatment We have many years of experience with age hardening and other heat treatments. We age harden aluminium profiles of up to 7,5 metres’ length in specially designed convection furnaces. The process takes place internally and is carefully monitored and documented, e.g. with tensile tests in our own laboratory.
Milling We can carry out the most complex milling tasks ourselves quickly, cost-effectively and safely on full 5-axis milling
centres from CMS, Maka and Muba, as well as CAD/CAM software from Tebis and Alpha CAM.
We can process dimensions in x-y-z of up to 9500-1700-1000 mm (larger dimensions on request)
Welding We can carry out welding in the following materials: Steel types S235 - S960, Stainless steel, Duplex, Aluminium 1000, 5000, 6000 alloys. Certified welding processes: MIG/MAG, TIG-WIG, Robot MAG – approved for execution classes EXC1, EXC2, EXC3 and based on WPS/WPQR. Naturally, we are approved to carry out NDT - Level II.
Project Management and Documentation We can offer turn-key delivery from the prototype phase to serial production or to a complete handover to the
end customer. We document in accordance with CE, PPAP, FAI or the customer’s own documentation material. We can also offer optical 3D scanning and measuring with our ZEISS T-SCAN.
Certification We are certified in accordance with: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, EN 1090-1 /-4 and EN ISO 3834-2
