ECTC has provided skilled care in a residential setting and educational programs since 1979.

At Exceptional Care & Training Center, we care for the whole person. Our residential, nursing, and day training services are supported by the same TEAM members to ensure continuity of care.

We maximize habilitation and enhance the quality of life of individuals in our care. Because residents have a wide range of conditions and needs such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, brain injury, and genetic abnormalities, we partner with the resident’s personal physician and therapists to develop an individualized care plan focusing on habilitation services, skilled nursing services, educational needs, nutritional needs, and socialization. We provide many on-site consultants and therapies.

Our residents enjoy regular outings to community events, parks, bowling alley, shopping centers, and much more. ECTC is able to provide wheelchair-accessible transportation and adaptive equipment to assist in participation in our community. There are also opportunities to relax in our beautiful courtyard with its serenity pond and garden and wheelchair-accessible swings and gliders.

HEALTH SERVICESQUALITY, COMPREHENSIVE NURSING CAREAt ECTC, our dedicated team members thrive on the opportunity to provide quality services through their caring approach. We provide 24-hour skilled nursing care.

ECTC is a residential facility licensed as a Medically Complex Facility for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (MC/DD) by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Services include, but are not limited to:

• Individualized care plans for persons with severe and profound intellectual disabilities

• Chronic disease management • Nutritional Services• Dysphagia assessment and treatment• Enteral nutrition management (nasal, gastric,

Jejunal, and Gastro-jejunal)• Seizure management • Wound care • Infectious disease management • Ostomy care • Diabetes management • Physical and speech therapy • Respiratory therapy (CPT vest, inhalation therapy,

oxygen therapy, suctioning, and tracheostomy) • Behavior modification

DAY TRAININGECTC’s Day Training Program focuses on teaching functional skills to engage each client in their environment. The Exceptional Care & Training Center Day Training Program is open to the community - not just residents of Exceptional Care. The Day Training Program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services.

• Program development and oversight is provided by full-time Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs).

• Individualized Program Plans are implemented by certified Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

• Comprehensive assessments and evaluations help us to tailor plans to address specific needs. These plans focus on adaptive skills including, but not limited to, activities of daily living, range of motion, motor skills, cognitive awareness, and communication skills.

• Specialized adaptive equipment is available to enhance the learning process.
