Mom, Modena Horrocks Bell, finally did it! On the evening of October 8, 2019, and after 89 years of hard work and dealing with the issues of an aging body, she entered into the arms of loving family and friends who have gone before her. We can't help but feel the tender love that her and our dad, Berle J. Bell, had as they reunited, leaving behind the difficulties and trials of a mortal life, we know their meeting was a sweet one. She was anxious and often talked about being finished with this life but in the end lingered just a bit longer to be with her family as they gathered around her home, one last time, to visit, laugh and joke about all the good and not so good times. Her family was her greatest joy. “Get Together's” on holidays, birthdays and any other days that she could get figured out, were her favorite! She loved being together with her family, eating great food, playing games and visiting. She was always concerned about each one of us and had to know every detail of our lives. We always knew there would be 20 questions from her so that she could find out exactly what was going on with each one of us. She dearly missed her grand kids and their families who had grown up and moved away, but she loved having visits and seeing those who still lived close by. When you went to visit it didn't matter how long you stayed it was never long enough.She taught us to work hard and expected us to be the best that we could be. Her Motto was: “You didn't sleep in, in the morning and you go to bed early at night.” This she did. Even in her later years it was nothing for her to be up at 5am. If you went to see her any later than 7pm in the evening you would probably catch her in her pj's.When her physical body still allowed, she loved working in her yard and garden. It was really hard for her to not be able to continue to do that. She missed her flowers and the beauty they bring. Summer was her favorite...winter brought her saddness. She was not looking forward to another winter alone.Mom was a no nonsense type of person, her standards never varied. She expected all of us to be perfect (which we are far from), to be frugal and appreciate what we have. As one granddaughter-in-law put it, "We love this feisty woman!" She told you how she felt and what she expected out of you and that information was never sugar coated!Mom is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and loved the Lord and Our Savior Jesus Christ. She served in many callings in the church, one of which she loved most dearly was being a temple worker. She was excited to meet those of whom she had done the work for those many years while being there.She was so proud of her Armenian hertiage and couldn't wait to see her grandparents again. In one of her last days, the tender mercies of the Lord allowed us serveral hours for her to share many special things, one being she never wants us to forget who we are and the Armenian hertiage of which we are all apart of. She would talk often about her childhood and her 3 brothers and 3 sisters. All of which she was reunited with except Arlene and Garth who still carry on in this mortal life.As she leaves her 2 sons, Rick and Dean Bell, 1 daughter Shavon Hoopes, and many grands and great-grand children behind, for now we say, "Get your garden planted and your yard work done, Mom. We will see you in a while!" We love you forever and ever and for all eternity!And "we will be sure and close the door when we leave!"
