Please read on for more specifics about our book fair: Book Fair Hours: Mon 12/1 8:30-3:30 Tues 12/2 8:30-3:30 Wed 12/3 8:30-4:00 Thurs 12/4 10:30-7:00 pm Fri 12/5 8:00-12:30 ***Parents may shop during school hours, just sign in at the main office first***

How children can shop: You are welcome to send money to school with your child to spend at the book fair. Please clearly label this in an envelope with your child’s name and the amount on the outside and have your child leave it in her backpack until she has an opportunity to shop. Students can bring money with them when their class visits the book fair. The fair is also open during lunch recesses for students to make purchases. Purchasing is easy: We are able to accept cash, checks, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express) and debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logos. A gift for your child’s classroom: There will be a classroom wish list board set up. Teachers fill out slips for books that they would like to have for your child’s classroom. You can then purchase one of those books and donate it to the classroom. Doing this allows you to give twice! Volunteer: We will be looking for volunteers to work book fair shifts. Please watch for the volunteer requests in your email inbox! Forest 'Flyers' Take Flight Please get your Flyer ready by reminding them to bring their charm necklace on Friday. Only kids who are participating for the first time this month will be given a new necklace. Thank you again for supporting this program and your Forest ‘Flyer’!

WINTER CRAFT FAIR The Winter Craft fair is a fun after school Trillium Tradition where students pay $15 to come to the gym after school and create up to 10 crafts that they can take home and share, give away, or keep for themselves during the holidays. After crafts dry overnight and are specially wrapped by parent volunteers, students take them home on Friday the 5th. This PTA sponsored event is on Wednesday, December 3rd from 2:15-3:45. It is open to all grade levels. Log onto www.trilliumcreekpta.org and click on the Winter Craft Fair Event to register. *Note: Kindergarten families: please enter a "0" for grade level on the registration form. Space is limited to the first 150 registrants and we still have 40 spots available! Limited number of scholarships available, please contact the office. Make sure to send a small snack for your student to eat after school. After registration you will receive a confirmation email receipt that you are enrolled. The Winter Craft Fair is in need of empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls for their event. Please help by dropping empty rolls off to the bin in the front office. We need several parents to assist with this event. No craft experience needed, just a fun and festive spirit! TCPS FOOD DRIVE Through 11/21 Trillium Creek students are working to fight hunger in Oregon this holiday season by working with the West Linn Food Pantry to support families in need here in our community. Please help our students give back to the West Linn community! Any donations are appreciated, but the following items are especially needed: Chili Beans Canned Beans Cans of Soup Cans of Fruit Peanut Butter Canned Fish (Salmon, Tuna, etc.) Donation Bins are located near the school office. Thanks for your support.

Dear Trillium Creek Families, In a recent superintendent community message, Dr. Bill Rhoades shared his appreciation and congratulated our communities for the recent passage of the Capital Bond and Local Option. He wrote, "Great news for children and great news for our communities! There are no words to express the depth of my gratitude for the support and generosity of our West Linn-Wilsonville school communities. I have already experienced many examples of how the renewal of our local option and our construction bond has ignited imaginations and captured the hearts and minds of children and adults as they begin to think about the possibilities inspired by your votes of confidence." As principal of Trillium Creek, I too want to share my appreciation for the generous support of these measures, as well as my gratitude for the many contributions you all provide. Your contributions make the difference that creates a very positive learning experience for our students, high expectations for their learning outcomes, and a school community that is very connected. The communities' decisive passing of the Capital Bond and Local Option leaves no doubt about how much the communities support students and their learning. As for what the Capital Bond provides students and District schools, the attached Bond flyer includes an overview of important details. This flyer was originally designed to provide voters with information about the Capital Bond, and now that the communities have passed this measure, it provides an overview of what now will come to be. These future capital improvements and additions will make an important difference for the children in both the West Linn and Wilsonville communities. Congratulations! Regarding the Local Option, this measure will continue to make a key difference of realizing the community value of having effective class sizes. The community's contribution through their support of the Local Option represents approximately 46 teaching positions district-wide, which will continue to prioritize class sizes throughout our District. Thank you all for your part in making a difference, for giving your time, for sharing your financial contributions, and for your support of the success of each and every student. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with your friends and family! Sincerely, Charlotte

Grow Our Garden of Giving! What is the Garden of Giving? We are fortunate that we have three learning gardens for students to integrate their learning of reading, writing, mathematics, and science through observations and investigations in a place based educational approach. Currently, the main learning garden in the front of the school is cared for by our kindergarten, first and second graders. We also have two rooftop gardens, one planted with native plants seen on the Oregon Trail and the other planted with kale. With care our learning gardens give us gifts of flowers and vegetables. This fall we enjoyed the sunflowers displayed in our office and students had the opportunity to taste tomato soup and green beans made from the vegetables grown in our learning gardens. Kale smoothies are next!

What is needed to continue growing the experiences around our learning gardens? We have identified items and activities that would support the goals of our learning gardens and our focus on sustainability. These include funds for:

2014 BOND MEASURE

ON NOV. 4

West Linn-Wilsonville Schools area voterswill vote on a $84.5 million bond measure

This Bond Measure is not expected to increase the current tax rate

80% of the Districts’ classrooms are at least a decade old. The bond allows the community to add/renovate classrooms at existing schools, including projects to update technology and increasing instructional spaces for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Music, and Drama.

Construct one new middle school on District-owned land in Wilsonville to meet current and anticipated overcrowding. Replace the aging Sunset Primary School on its existing site.

District schools are used daily for instruction and community activities. Projects are proposed to repair or replace aging roofs, windows, paint, flooring, and mechanical/electrical systems. Projects will produce energy saving improvements to many of its schools and facilities.

SAFETY IMPROVEMENTSAT ALL SCHOOLS

CLASSROOM ADDITIONS, RENOVATIONS ANDTECHNOLOGY UPGRADES

MAINTAIN AND PRESERVEEXISTING SCHOOLBUILDINGS

BUILD NEW SCHOOLS

WHY? HOW MUCH$

Nearly half the District school buildings are more than 30 years old and some were built more that 60 years ago. Student enrollment in the West Linn - Wilsonville School District has more than doubled in the past 20 years and is projected to increase by nearly 1,000 students in the next five years. New schools and spaces will balance current and future enrollment needs. The bond would provide students and staff with safe and efficient learning environments and make operational improvements at all existing schools.

Due to the retirement of existing bonds this bond measure is not expected to increase the current tax rate. This $84.5 million dollar bond is projected to be an average cost of 0.87 cents per $1,000 of assessed value annually over the bond term. The amount is equal to approximately $174 per year on a home with a $200,000 taxable value.

THE BOND MEASURE WOULD PROVIDE:

Make health and life safety upgrades including fire sprinklers, security systems, electrical wiring, intercoms and entrance redesign to provide improved visibility of visitor access. Add safety improvements at all schools including security fencing, site lighting and playground safety improvements to enhance student security.
