Introduction

Rationale:

Persistent competition over talents, unique skills short-age in the market, and urgency to improve business risk management in succession planning process led Bahri to develop a trainees program called “MAHER” to work as tal-ents feeder and funnel for future senior roles.

About the program:

Challenging and compelling roles, job rotation, individual development plan, project and work assignments, cross functional exposure, coaching & mentoring, dedicated trainings: these are the program’s strengths which will de-velop its full potential and will enable it in reaching a leadership position in a few years!

What is MAHER program?

This program is designed to foster a pipeline of creative talent that will rotate through multiple departments in a structured process. This program which lasts 1 year, pro-vide trainees at each cycle with the knowledge and skills necessary to fast track their careers.

Selection Criteria & Process

Saudi national

BA/BS is required (MBA/MSc desirable) GPA minimum 3.00 (scale of 4.00), from a reputed school in Maritime, Supply Chain & Logistics, Finance, Accounting Business, HR, IT, Engineering, Project & Operation Management or any other related field.

Fresh Graduate or will be graduated in subject year.

Passes all required tests:

• Language test (very good command of English- Writing & speaking)

• Psychometrics tests (aptitude/profiling)• Face to face interviews

Program Structure

ON-JOBTRAINING

Extensive hands-on training in each func-tion and business unit to understand or-ganizational system.

OFF-JOBDEVELOPMENT

To complement practical work, training pro-grams are designed to equip MAHER train-ees to contribute at the highest level in the shortest possible time. MAHER trainees will undertake:

Local / In-house courses• Bahri Marhaba Program (BMP) • High Performing Teams• Personal effectiveness• HR Business Foundation • Business writing & presentation skills• Negotiation skills• Effective leadership

Professional Courses• Anatomy of Shipping, UK• (CPA, CIM, CIMA, CFA, CIPD, etc.)

Program Process Overview

1. Placement in various functions to be able to appreci-ate how Bahri works

2. Performance Appraisal based on the placement con-ducted every 6 months

3. Monthly meetings with the HR Dev. & Training team to track progress and address any issues arising.

4. Weekly On-Job Training (OJT) report prepare by the trainee to reflect learning

5. Monthly presentation to leadership team at all levels

6. Projects/tasks assignment

7. Mentoring by functional owners & coaching by Manag-ers/Supervisors

8. Confirmation as a Maher graduate after 12 months with specified role
