THE VILLAGERS
The two boys and two girls who comprise
The Villagers are an interesting mixture of
four different kinds of folk singing, coming
as they do from four different regions of the
U.S.— Elaine from the midwest, Janet from
the northwest, Steve from the east, and
Harvey from the southwest. Now firmly
rooted as a West Coast folk group, all four
got there in pursuit of career and musical
education. Each has the solid foundation
of classical training to add sinew to a fine
individual talent.
Number One girl Elaine, born in Wauke-
gan, Illinois, studied voice and piano at the
Universities of Michigan and Illinois;
arranged for and sang in many college
chorales; studied film scoring under Leith
Stevens at U.C.L.A.

kettle of folk singing unless you’ve got some-
thing different to offer. This was the self-
imposed rule of producers Perry Botkin, Jr.,

Dynagroove records are the product
of RCA Victor’s newly developed
system of recording which provides
a spectacular improvement in the
sound quality.
CHARACTERISTICS:
1. Brilliance and clarity—the original sound in startling defi- nition
2. Realistic presence—sound projected in “photographic” per-
spective
3. Full-bodied tone—even when you listen at low level
4. Surface noise virtually elim- inated!
3. Inner-groove distortion vir- tually eliminated!
To solve these old and obstinate
problems in disc recording, highly
ingenious computers — “electronic
brains” — have been introduced to
audio for the first time. These re-
markable new electronic devices and
processes grew out of an intense
research program which produced
notable advances in virtually every
step of the recording science.
The final test of any record is in the
listening — compare the sound of
Dynagroove recordings!
