We created a survey to find out more information about the general film audience. As the film we are making is a horror, we slowly directed the questions towards the horror genre to see how they would respond to our film idea. We made the survey and then posted it on our blogs and also sent it out to Twitter to give us a wider range of answers. We collected 19 of responses from this. Our questions were: 1. Are you male or female? 2. How old are you? 3. What do you do for a living? 4. How often do you go to the cinema? 5. What time of day are you more likely to watch films? 6. Who do you usually watch films with? 7. What genre of films do you like? (options given) 8. What is your favourite genre? 9. Which subgenre of horror do you like? (options given) 10. Which of these subgenres do you prefer? 11. What are some of your favou rite horror films? Why? The great majority of our responses came from females with ages ranging from 12 – 19. Everyone who responded is in full time education and ten people said they are more likely to watch films with friends along with everyone saying they usually watch films in the evening. This creates a good atmosphere for horror films, as they are associated with darkness. Also most participants said they go to the cinema every few weeks. Horror appeared in 11/16 of the responses we received with horror as the favourite for 7 of them. Supernatural horror (like our film) was chosen 10 times as a favourite subgenre. This was a good response for us as we planned already to make a film with a supernatural theme. This

Page 1: We created a survey to find out more information about the general film audience

Our questions were:

1. Are you male or female?

2. How old are you?

3. What do you do for a living?

4. How often do you go to the cinema?

5. What time of day are you more likely to watch films?

6. Who do you usually watch films with?

7. What genre of films do you like? (options given)

8. What is your favourite genre?

9. Which subgenre of horror do you like? (options given)

10. Which of these subgenres do you prefer?

11. What are some of your favourite horror films?

This made us definitely decide to make a supernatural horror film as our G321 project.  .

The range in answers for a favourite horror is quite varied. Common answers we received are The Conjuring and Insidious (stereotypical ‘there’s something wrong with the house’ like our film), and also Scream
