WELCOMEWelcome to the 2009 MPI SEC at the beautiful Eden Roc in Miami Beach, Florida. We would like to personally give all our sponsors a special thanks for helping us ensure the continuing success of the SEC in these difficult times. We would also like to thank our planners and suppliers for attending the SEC. Without you, it would not be a success.

This year, in our continuing effort to stay green, you will notice that we have provided a pdf file of our program for you to enjoy. We will have plasma screens onsite that will give you a daily itinerary of the program so that you know where you are, what to expect and where you are going. We will not be providing hard copies of the program onsite. We will provide pocket itineraries on recycled paper for those of you who would like to have the schedule on hand.

As you go through this program, please take a moment to look at the wonderful educational classes we will be providing. These educational classes will not only help you through these hard economic times, but help your continuous success in the corporate world or in owning your own business. We’ve made sure there are classes for suppliers as well!

Don also discusses the housing collapse credit crunch, Obamanomics, stockmarket, banking industry, deflation now inflation later, and understanding the demographics of the bust. What will the Federal Reserve Board do next?

As former Chairman of the Board on Pension & Investment Committees responsible for $120 Billion, Don specializes in strategic asset allocation based on long-term trend analysis and understanding of “Big Picture Scenarios” and their impact on specific industries. He has a profound real-world insight into Financial Markets and such key areas as interest rates, energy prices, real estate, and economic policy. Though a long-term optimist, he is refreshingly candid about current economic realities and short-term solutions vs long-term wealth creation.Don believes that the velocity of change is accelerating due to Globalization, Demographics, and Technology. When these forces interact, massive changes or tectonic shifts occur, creating a visceral new reality. To be successful, companies and individuals need to become pro-active, anticipatory, and inter-disciplinary. Attendees at the MPI SEC will learn how these trends will impact their own work environment and how to apply those trends in predicting their own “futures”.

Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, Plaxo, Classmates.com, Flickr, Meetup, Yelp, Buzznet Xanga — these are but a small sample of the countless social networking sites available today. Deciphering what they all mean, who they are all for and which are the most necessary (and why) for today’s

busy professionals is another story. Wikipedia says “A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others”. Social networking has encouraged new ways to communicate and share information. Social networking websites are being used regularly by millions of people. This session will teach you how to decide which social networks make the most sense for you to join and why, and will help you better understand, once you’re “signed on”, what exactly is expected of you. Note: This session will be repeated twice.

10:00am – 11:30am Location: Palm Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers and Why We are a Mess: 5 Fool-Proof Strategies to Reduce Your Stress Dr. Eric Goldstein, President of StressRelief

Times are tough. The economic recession, tighter client budgets, job and industry

uncertainty, and the list goes on. It’s no wonder stress has become one of the greatest challenges we face today. Not only does it affect the bottom line, but it can also lead to health problems, marital discord, emotional downturns and significant disruptions in performance (both in and out of the office).

This 90-minute program will teach the strategies developed and used by NASA, professional athletes (from sports such as tennis, golf, basketball, etc.) and successful executives worldwide. It is filled with one-minute exercises “how-to” skills that deal with the real world stressors facing meeting planners today. Participants will learn what foods reduce stress (in addition to chocolate), how to stop worrying, how to improve sleep, and how to feel a greater sense of calm on a regular basis. And of course you will learn why zebras don’t get ulcers.
