Our School Council’s First Assignment of the School Year

Our School Council had a a special job this week as our newly elected School

Council Reps. They helped to take the donations from school and our Church

congregation to Fylde Foodbank in Kirkham.

The children helped to weigh the donations and saw where they are sorted and

stored before they are given to people in need in our local community.

We were really proud to hear that we had collected enough items to give out

over 520 meals. What an amazing achievement - well done everyone!

Multi-Faith Week 2019

Well done everyone for a brilliant week celebrating the faith of

Sikhism and the festival of Diwali. Thank you to our special

visitor – Kash, who taught us Sikh dancing and all about the

beliefs of Sikhs. We hope to make some visits to Kash’s Temple

soon!

Ancient Greek Day Year 3

Year 3 have had a fabulous day celebrating the end of our topic. So much effort

has gone into all the costumes and the children have had a fabulous day. They

have role played Perseus and Medusa and Theseus and the Minotaur at playtime

which was fabulous. We have tasted some Greek food. Some children were as

brave as Perseus, others were nearly turned to stone by the sheer thought of

trying the food!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

It has come to my attention that a number of children are being picked

up late from After School Club. After School Club closes AT 5:30pm, so

all children should be collected before this time. ASC staff also have

their own childcare commitments and must finish on time so that they

can pick their own children up.

In future, any parents collecting their child/ren late from ASC will be

charged an additional £6 for the inconvenience. Subsequently, your

child/children will not be allowed to attend another session until this is

paid. Parents who continue to pick their children up late will not be

allowed to use the services of our ASC. If you are running unavoidably

late, due to factors beyond your control, please call the ASC mobile on

07930 093178 to inform staff.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

Attendance Information

Schools are measured on their attendance figures as well as their attainment and test results. When we do not achieve certain percentages, our attendance consultants, DfE and OfSTED expect to see improvements. Please take the time to read the following infor-mation:

Illness

When a child has a day off we MUST be notified by a parent or carer. This can be a note or a telephone call. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you, by telephone. If we can-not make contact with you, we will carry out a home visit.

Please be aware that if you child arrives after 9.00am (when the registers close) this will be marked as an unauthorised absence.

'Leave' in school time

If you need to request 'leave' in term time, there must be exceptional reasons as to why the leave needs to be taken. Please do not book a holiday and then ask permission.

Did you know that being 15 minutes late each day is the same as missing two weeks of school during an academic year?

Even just being five minutes late, every day, adds up to three days absence over the year.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Dear Parents and Children,

The children have all been involved in our Multi-Faith week. Our focus was Sikhism.

Kash led a range of different workshops in school. The children took part in dance

and drama sessions. Our EYFS class even had Henna body art applied to their hands!

We learnt about the differences between the faiths —but also how we share many

values, particularly that of RESPECT. Year 2 led a Class Worship and told us the

story of the ‘52 Kings. ’ What clear , expressive reading in Church, Year 2! Well done!

May I take this opportunity to wish all of our families a very happy and peaceful half

term break. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 30th October.

Very best wishes, Mrs. Armstrong
