Antenna Tilt Optimization Overview

Optimizer suggests antenna tilt change after the user runs Antenna Tilt Optimization rules based on KPIs.

The user can edit the rule KPIs, the thresholds and operators.

The results can be visualized on Map and in Browser.

Antenna Tilt Optimization can handle two different antenna solutions:

1.Remote Electrical Tilt

2.Manual Antenna Tilt

In this case the changes can be stored in Excel file and provisioning is done manually.

Remote Electrical Tilt Solution

For Remote Electrical Tilt the following is needed:

1. HW: Flexi or UltraSite BTS

2. SW : RETAm application in NetAct Connectivity servers for

• uploading RET data

• downloading RET data

• calibration of RETs

3. SW licence: CM_MGMT_3G_RET

4. RETam database in NetAct database server

RET Architecture

Remote Electrical Tilt unit (RET) is used for adjusting the antenna tilt.

One RET may affect multiple cells and one cell can be affected by multiple RETs.

RETam works with the RealTilt Control Unit (RCUA).

Visualizing affected areas (1/2)

For visualizing the cells affected by antenna tilting, select Scope creation.

Affected area is the collection of the cell’s neighbors.

Visualizing affected areas(2/2)

By default the Scope KPIs are retrieved for the newly created scopes.

Using these KPIs you can follow the impact of antenna tilting.

copies the planned tilt value to RET parameter ”Angle”.

The provisioning process also updates the data in RETam

database.

- before running the rules the rule settings can be edited

- the results can be listed to Browser or visualized on Map

- the affected area of tilting can be managed as a scope

- the results can be provisioned using CM Operations Manager
