    It was a busy day with many bands playing not only withtheir own band but helping other bands too. This did makefor some rapid sprints by players to the next band.

    The success at Pershore every year is all down to themany Bands that come along. There are several venuesbusy throughout the day and into the evening in the Abbey:

    1. Beer Garden - back of the Angel this is always wellpopulated with the large concert Marquee, and opengardens with tables & benches and of course, therefreshment tents with liquid and food;

    2. Baptist Church.3. Pershore Abbey.4. Chapel Court.5. The Park Bandstand.

    This annual event has literally several thousand peopleflocking to the massive field with stalls (some partly visiblebehind our gazebo above left). In the short band breaks,we still couldnt get round to see everything:- dog judgingclasses, dancing, demonstrations in martial arts, horseshows, vintage cars and much more, with always a well

    known personality from radio or TV on the MC.

    With superb timing (and a hint from the organisers) we hadAces High playing to the aerial & acrobatic display (Pictureabove right). There were great refreshments in the villagehall opposite, with yummy cakes.

    See you there next year!

    Sept 15th - *Cross Roads Charity arranged anothersuccessful repeat event with WCB, this time atBrockhampton Court near Hereford. It was anotherbeautiful venue and they had planned for us to play outsidebut it was very wet & windy! We were, thankfully,ensconced indoors with over 40 visitors [+carers] who wereall brought in, under *Louise Herriotts superb

    organisational skills, by special minibuses from their varioushomes. Some had not left their home in four years. It wasa pleasure to hear the many thanks of gratitude from anamazing and appreciative audience.

    The musicality and ambience was sensitively orchestratedby Chris License in playing many golden oldies from the eraof our listeners background. Their gentle voices joined usin song. I personally found it very moving to hear them.

    Thank you to all players who drove some distance to makea lot of special people very happy. We hope to see you againnext year.

    Band News

    A very warm WELCOME to players who have recentlyjoined Worcester Concert Brass Band :-

    Andi Rutherford - Solo Cornet / Flugel

    Richard King - Bass TromboneMark Davies - Eb Bass

    Tim Allen has moved to the front row cornets. We have recently resurrected our Touring Timps for

    more variety in percussion. Thanks to David Cotteefor the DIY work and to the original producer of these- Marcus de Mowbray of [[email protected]] in SELondon, who made some new parts that weremissing, and posted these out with carefulinstructions of how & where to attach.

    Our percussionist Heather License will now see thetuning pointer without having to guess! These Timpsare controlled, in pitch, by a foot pedal to a bar whichtightens/slackens the skinhead to match the key inwhich the band is playing. These are being used onOct 25th.
