New Sites Will Have a 16 to 22 Digit “Partner ID”

Partner ID must meet the following minimum requirements when they are created or changed:

• At least 16 alphanumeric characters in length

• Contain at least 1 uppercase letter (A-Z)

• Contain at least 1 lower case letter (A-Z)

• Contain at least 1 number (0-9)

Impact of this change:

• Existing sites: No impact, unless the customer/partner requests to upgrade their Partner ID (PID).

• New sites: By default, new sites will adopt the new rule and be provisioned with the new Partner ID format. The partner/customer will have the option to specify their desired combination, as long as it is unique in the system, and adheres to the strength policy above.

If “Join Before Host” is Turned On for Attendees

A countdown timer appears 30 minutes prior to when attendees are allowed to join (NOT the meeting’s scheduled start time)


If “Join Before Host” is Turned Off for Attendees

Once it hits the scheduled start time, a message will tell the user the meeting will start once the Host joins the meeting. Once the host starts the meeting, the “Join” button will turn green.


Chrome Installation Page and Join/Start Updates

Beginning with Chrome 32, NPAPI plugins are disabled by default

• WebEx plugin is affected

The Join/Start & Install pages have been updated to not use Java and instead give customers instructions on how to enable the plugin

New wideband audio codec for VoIP: Opus

Superior packet loss concealment, forward error correction, better noise suppression, and jitter buffer

As a result, it provides better audio quality in less ideal conditions. Much nicer experience when using audio through a computer even without headset

Windows, Mac, Linux, Android 5.1, iOS 6.0 clients

NBR is supported for VoIP-only sessions

New Video Control Layout Options

When one user sends video:

• Meeting window view changes to 50% video view (unless sharing)

When 2 or more people send video:

• Video panel automatically changes to thumbnail view

If camera is detected

• User will see message to send video (MC only)

Users can specify to send video by default in all meetings

• Can be changed in video settings

Video Frame Rate: Changes to Improve Experience

Frame rate for thumbnails and active video is now 15fps (from earlier 6fps)

• Provides good video experience at work, where bandwidth is usually fast.

Spinning wheel turns to error message after 5 seconds

• Spinning wheel was indication of something wrong with WebEx, while a clear message reflects bandwidth or local computer issue

Auto-recovery of video on WX-TP meetings after low bandwidth shut-off


Lock icon at bottom right corner of meeting/event window has been removed for SSL, to avoid confusion with “Lock” feature of Personal Rooms

New tooltip: “Secure Connection with SSL” on hover over “Connected” icon

• Each instance can be accessed individually, and has its own Meeting Detail Page (like any other standalone meeting)

Exceptions: Catch Points

Example: a weekly Wednesday meeting with an exception to take place on a Tuesday

Accessible by anyone with a series invite

Users who are only invited to the exception will not have access to the rest of series

Series meeting instances share a common join link/meeting number

Users who are invited to a particular exception only, will have a different join link/meeting number which will link directly to that particular exception.

Latest version of WebEx PT Required

CMR Hybrid (WebEx-enabled Telepresence) meetings do NOT yet support creating exceptions to a meeting series.

Rules Are “Outlook Familiar”

Managing a series and exceptions follow similar rules to Outlook.

Two instances of a series cannot occur on the same day

An exception meeting cannot be moved beyond the next (or previous) instance in the series

Editing the recurrence pattern of (or cancelling) the entire series will delete any existing exception meetings

Entering a Personal Room: Host Not Present

Anyone can attempt to join a Personal Room if

they know the URL. However, they will be placed in the Lobby until the Host joins their own Personal Room.


Entering a Locked Personal Room: Host Present

If a Host locks their PR, a notification

appears on the PR landing page.

Anyone who tries to join will be placed

in the lobby.

The Host will be instantly

notified of the person waiting in the lobby.


Lobby Management

When not sharing, you can quickly admit one user who joined your meeting

Remove Old Personal Room

The old “My Personal Meeting Room” feature is being replaced with the new Personal Room. If you turn off the new Personal Room, you will not see the old version.


Site Admin: Site Level

Personal Room (PR) is separate from Collaboration Meeting Room (CMR)

• Site Admin > Site Settings > Meeting Center

• “Host PIN” only shows if they have CMR

• Turning off PR here, turns off PR for all hosts

Site Admin: Individual User Level

To turn off Personal Room (PR) for just one user, go to “Edit User List” and select a user- then uncheck “Personal Room.”

Personal Room (PR) is separate from Collaboration Meeting Room (CMR). CMR is an upgrade to allow video devices in WebEx Meeting Center meetings.
