1Top 10 Cool Ways to Use EFSRun your sponsored reports in the Reporting Instance and not in ProductionCan have both instances open at the same timeEFS Financial Reporting link on finsys.umn.eduProduction (FSUMPRD) is tuned for processing transactions not running reportsThe Reporting Instance (FSUMRPT) is tuned for generating reports and reports do run faster13 seconds in RPT vs. 57 seconds in PRD

Some cars are tuned to run fast this is how the reporting instance is tuned, so transaction processing happens in the reporting instance so it is configured to run fastProduction is configured for processing transactions, by running reports in production we are SLOWING down production processing. Show the blue section where the PRD and RPT display!!2Number 9Use Query ViewerEveryone with Production access has Query Viewer access in the reporting instanceQuery Catalog http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/prod/groups/ohr/@pub/@ohr/@trainingservices/documents/asset/ohr_asset_062828.pdfOther public query not listed in the catalog - call or email the HelpLine @ 4-1617 or finsys.umn.edu

The Query Catalog documents the queries that have been created as tools specifically for end-users. Each query pulls a specific set of information based on the query formatting, the prompt information input by the user. All queries can be output to either HTML or Excel.Same sight has query viewer procedures, most commonly used queries, etc. This is only way we will get used to the new data!3Number 8Use the award profile page, (grants awards award profile) it has or links to many of the most important award data elements Proposal # = Award # = Contract #For continuations, new proposal number but keep the existing award and contract number Header section of the NOGA gives the path where to find the exact information in EFSDont have to run a report for everything

Go online show the award tab, funding tab, certifications tab, terms tab (dont forget view all), department credit, 4Number 7Know your dates, dates, dates! There are seven places where dates are stored, two impact departmental processingGrants > Awards > Award Profile, click on Award Modifications Grants > Awards > Award Profile Award TabGrants > Awards > Award Profile Funding TabGrants > Awards > Project, General Information page Grants > Awards > Project, Project Activities hyperlinkCustomer Contracts > Create and Amend > General Information, lines tabCommitment Control

The two you really care about are bolded, the first one is the award end date. KK, this will cause transactions to fail. KK is set to 90 days beyond the end date of the award. Transactions processed after the 90 days will fail. If you need KK dates extended contact your GA or SFR accountant (GA for continuations, NCE) and SFR accountant for terminated awards. WE ARE NOT extending the dates of the award, just the dates for transactions to process. 5Number 6Understand how transactions from feeder modules post to ProjectsTransactions need to post in the feeder module only in order for projects to cost collectProjects cost collects AP transactions from AP, Employee Expense transactions from EE and Journal Entries from GL. We dont cost collect the feeder modules transactions from GLRemember queries/reports that pull data from the GL will only show the current fiscal year transactions, for inception to date use the the Proj_Resource table or the sponsored reportsreports

So, that means we dont need the feeder modules transaction to post to the GL in order to cost collect. Once it has posted in the feeder module we cost collect it. Had some departmental folks telling SFR not to finalize a report or invoice as the AP transaction wasnt posted to the GL, doesnt matter, only has to post to AP for us to cost collect. It is the individual module owner to ensure that the transactions post from the feeder module to GL. For example, as BPO of AR & BI, I make sure the AR & BI transactions post up to the GL.6Number 5View award & modification documents online in PSCustomer Contracts Create & Amend General Information Attachments (dropdown) click on the view iconNaming conventionContract number, new/modification/date
