ways to Build A Growth Mindset at Home Smart Stacker. A fun and simple activity to introduce growth mindset. Challenge your kiddo to open a pack of smarties. Their goal is to stack all the smarties in a tower. This is CHALLENGING but possible. Monitor their language and challenge them to stay positive throughout the challenge. Flip That Flop. Mistakes can help us grow and learn. But in the moment, they may feel like failures. Take the time to discuss with your child how they can Flip their mistake (Flop) into something positive. To take it a step further go online and look up some famous failures that resulted in great things. If I couldn’t fail... What would you do it you couldn’t fail? That’s not something we think about often but by imagining those big dreams we open ourselves up to opportunities and possibilities. Work with your child to make a list or draw a picture of something they would do if they knew they couldn’t fail. Make sure you create one as well, modeling a growth mindset is key to teaching it. Cup Stacker. This activity encourages growth mindset and teamwork in a group. The challenge: unstack a pyramid of 6 solo cups using nothing but rubber bands and string. Body parts MAY NOT touch the cups. If you have a large group, write down some of the positive and negative language you hear throughout this process. Discuss this language and what it added to the process afterwards. 1 2 3 4 ©Carol Miller 2020 Clip Art Credit to: Kelly Benefield Font Credit to: KG Fonts, BMD Fonts, and AG Fonts
