Welcome to DuPont State Recreational Forest – 10,400 acres in Western North Carolina near Hendersonville and Brevard.
SUGGESTED ROUTES in DuPont State Recreational Forest includes popular routes for hikers, bikers and equestrians ranging in length from three to fourteen plus miles, and in difficulty from easy to strenuous. A map with turn-by-turn directions, and an elevation profile is included.

Note: All routes avoid the often congested High Falls and Hooker Falls Access Areas popular for visiting the waterfalls. Detailed waterfall maps are available at the Aleen Steinberg Center/Welcome Center at High Falls Access Area.
DuPont State Recreational Forest is open to the public year-round. Trails in the 80+ mile network are open to pedestrians, bikers and equestrians except where indicated. Please note that some trails are for foot traffic only. Trail Etiquette for DuPont State Recreational Forest

Bikers yield to horses and hikers.
Bikers riding downhill must yield to everyone.
Wear blaze orange during hunting season.
Forest Rules
Forest Hours: 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Pets must remain on a leash at all times.
Swimming and wading above waterfalls is prohibited.
Rock climbing requires a permit.
Camping is not allowed.
Possession of alcohol and/or illegal drugs is prohibited.
Hunting requires a license and a DuPont Game Lands permit.
