As we wrap our 30th anniversary year, I’d like to thank all of our customers, employees and industry friends for making these 30 years possible, and for joining us in celebrating our achievement.

2014 was a very busy and successful year for us. We celebrated our anniversary, received a prestigious Minnesota Manufacturing Award, launched a new website, and introduced our new line of low-cost waterjet systems.

As we move forward into 2015, we will be focused on making continuous improvements to our product line and services to help our customers achieve their highest levels of productivity and pro�tability. We also have plans to o�er additional training resources including tech tips, maintenance videos and �ipcharts and much more, in response to customer requests from our 2014 customer survey. U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus Visits Jet Edge’s Shanghai Office

U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus visited Jet Edge’s Shanghai office Dec. 1 during a tour of the AMT Shanghai Technology and Service Center. During his visit, Mr. Baucus was treated to a live waterjet cutting demonstra-tion in Jet Edge’s demonstration lab, where Jet Edge presented the ambas-sador with a waterjet cut state seal of his home state of Montana.

Jet Edge, headquartered in St. Michael, Minn. U.S.A., opened its China sales, service in showroom in 2011 to meet the growing demand for American-made water jet cutting technology in China.

“We were very honored that Ambassador Baucus visited Jet Edge’s China office and took time to watch a demonstration of our technology,” said Haihong Song (Samuel), Jet Edge’s China area sales manager. “China is the world’s largest importer of machine tools, and American machine tool imports to China rank sixth, behind Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan, and Italy. There are tremendous opportunities for U.S. machine tool manufacturers in China.”

TECH TIP:

High pressure waterjet cutting and cleaning is an erosion process. Maintaining your Hp system is critical so this same erosion process doesn’t destroy the Hp pump components. If you see a leak from a weep hole, repair/replace it as soon as reasonably possible. Allowing it to leak will allow the continuing of the erosion process and all mating parts may require replacement in addition to having the system work harder to maintain pressure.

If any of the Hp seals indicators begins to indicate leakage, monitor it closely. Once it reaches the point to where it is dripping several drops each cycle, sched-ule downtime at the end of that shift to get it changed out. If the seal indicator is squirting a stream of water each cycle, shut the pump down immediately and

change the seal(s); failure to do so may result in the Hp cylinder becoming damaged or worse yet, the hydraulic system getting water in it which can lead to hydraulic pump failure.

If the intensi�er cycles when the unit is in a static state (jet o�, intensi�er on), check for external leaks as well as internal leaks such as the bleed down needle and seat or the high or low pressure check valves. Often times you’ll �nd excessive heat. You can monitor this by carefully touching the bleed down valve Hp outlet adapter, Hp poppet body, and the inlet water line near checktube. If you �nd excessive heat in any of these areas, it indicates internal leakage and those components will need to be replaced or relapped.

Refer to the servicing section of your manual for detailed instructions. Be sure to clean the components and follow the torqueing guidelines. Failure to service the unit properly will lead to excessive downtime and increased repair cost.
