Newsletter February 2020In January, the Waterborne TP continued with the preparation of the candidate Co-ProgrammedPartnership zero-emission waterborne transport, organised its yearly General Assembly, andparticipated to the final preparatory meetings of the TRA 2020. And that were not the onlyactivities of the Platform and its members. This newsletter highlights a number of developmentsof January:
- Horizon Europe, a co-programmed partnership zero-emission waterborne transport;- The Waterborne TP General Assembly;- The preparations of the TRA 2020;- New members joining the Waterborne TP.
Co-programmed partnership zero-emissionwaterborne transport - state-of-playThe Waterborne TP is currently preparing a series of documents in preparation of the finalselection. As a first step, the formal proposal for the Partnership is drafted by the Secretariat andan editorial team consisting of members of the waterborne community. The Proposal iscomposed of the context, objectives and expected impacts, as well as the expectedimplementation. The final version of this document will be submitted to DG RTD of the EuropeanCommission by 29 February 2020. In parallel the development of the first draft of the StrategicResearch and Innovation Agenda of the Partnership kicked-off. This document is expected to befinalised end of June, after going through a series of consultations and feedback loops. It isexpected that the Partnership itself will start on 1 January 2021.
In addition, the identification of topics for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 in the framework ofHorizon Europe will soon be finalised, It concerns both topics for related to zero-emissionwaterborne transport, as well as topics which will be covered by collaborative research.
A major outstanding issue is the budget for Horizon Europe, and thereby the budget forwaterborne related research and innovation. It is thereby essential, that we all convince ournational administrations that the budget for Horizon Europe should be a priority, in line with the

proposal of the European Commission, and preferably in line with the proposal of the EuropeanParliament.
Waterborne TP General Assembly, 23 January2020, Brussels
On 23 January 2020, the Waterborne TP organised its General Assembly. The morning sessionwas dedicated to an overview of the developments regarding Horizon Europe in general, as wellas the preparations of the Co-Programmed Partnership Zero-Emission Waterborne Transport. Inthe afternoon, the members discussed proposals for organisational changes, the creation of apublic affairs working group and its composition, the proposal for the Co-ProgrammedPartnership, the elections of the Board, the membership fee for 2020 as well as the possiblestructures for the governance of the Partnership. Finally, the Waterborne TP formally adopted the

application for membership of 15 organisations. It is currently foreseen, that an extrodinaryGeneral Assembly will be organised back-to-back with the signing ceremony of the Partnership.
