Methods of distribution systemDead endIt is suitable for irregular developed towns or city. In this system one main starts from reservoir along main road and sub mains are connected to mains in other directionGrid systemIt is also known as reticulated system & most convenient for town having rectangular layout. Actually, this system is an improvement over dead end system.

Ring systemIt is adopted only well planed locality of cities. In this, each locality is divided into square or circular block & water mains are laid around square or circle.

Radial systemThis system is not adopted in India, because for this system the roads should be laid out readily from a center
