Water Softening Plant

Envirogen design and build an extensive and comprehensive range of Water Softening Plants for use across a variety of markets and applications.

Softening, through ION Exchange is used to remove scale-forming calcium and magnesium ions from hard water replacing them with sodium salts that do not deposit scale, ensuring a greater level of efficiency across a manufacturing site.

How does a water softener work?

A water softener works by allowing hard water to filter downwards through a bed of ion exchange resin. The ion exchange resin attracts the calcium and magnesium ions (hardness) and replaces them with sodium ions which are less problematic for water systems and will not cause scale build-up. Once the ion exchange resins are saturated with hardness, the regeneration sequence on the water softener begins. The frequency of a water softener's regeneration cycle is usually pre-set, using a timer or a counter-signal from a water meter.

Technical Overview

EcoSave Range of Softeners

The EcoSave range of softeners are volume-controlled coun-ter current resulting in reliable and economical operation. The counter current operation means the resins are used to their full capacity before an automatic regeneration takes place, due to the opposing flow directions salt usage is minimised and water quality can be maintained between regenerations thus significantly reducing water consumption.
