In a press briefing, NSCB Secretary General Jose Ramon G. Albert reports that poverty incidence among population was estimated at 27.9 percent during the first semester of 2012.

Experts from the Philippine Waterworks Association said that the urban centre could face severe water shortage by 2025.
A bill is currently pending in the 16th Congress of thePhilippine Senate that shall enable local government units and farmer associations to design and establish rainwater harvesting structures to store rainwater and surface runoff water within a watershed.
