Benefits • Schemes are easy to implement and have a short execution period

• This model can also be integrated with very small streams in the hills carrying a dry weather flow of 5-6 lps can be tapped, which otherwise are not considered potential for irrigation.

• They can benefit the poor, as hilly and undulating poverty stricken regions where no electricity is available.

• Recurring cost is almost nil that encourages poor to adopt irrigated agriculture

• They help poor attain food sufficiency and enhance cash income and thus discontinue the strenuous shifting cultivation and migration

• They can ensure 24hrs water supply to the village community and fulfil their domestic needs as well as portable and safe drinking water.

• Such schemes involve less number of farmers who can easily use and manage them.

• As micro irrigation systems installed for providing irrigation to commercial vegetable cultivation , the model provide irrigation water only by pressing a switch

• Through accessing water at the door step both for drinking water and water for domestic use will reduce the drudgery of women to great extent and productive hours of women workforce can be enhanced up to 2 hours per day.

• Access to both safe potable drinking water and water for irrigation for nutritional garden would help to get round the year nutritional diet like consumption of vegetables will reduce the occurrence of water borne, communicable diseases like diarrhoea and scabies as well as to some extent of malnutrition which in turn reduces the health related expenditure and strengthens work force.

• Round the year intensive vegetable cultivation with women farmer not only to ensure nutritional security of the family but also to enhance the family income up to Rs. 20000 per annum.

• Enhanced income can be effectively utilized to improve the quality of life by plugging the expenditure under health and sanitation leading to diseases reduction and efficiency of human which in turn strengthens local economy
