A Rain Water Utilisation System
18Water-Days Dubai – Frank Mewes 08.07.2009
Automatic operationRain water is pumped from the storage tank.
If it is empty, the main water supply is activated automatically.
Manual operation in “storage tank” modeSystem exclusively uses rain water from the storage tank. In this mode, the storage tank may be drained for cleaning and maintenance. If it is empty, the dry-running protection is activated to protect the pump.
Manual operation in “main water” mode
System exclusively uses the main water supply even if the storage tank contains rain water. (Useful when work is being done on the storage tank).

• Biological-mechanical cleaning without Chemical additivesThe system uses the microorganisms present in the water. They break down substances such as soap and shampoo contained in the water. All this is donewithout adding chemicals or other biological substances.
• Non weather-dependentShower water is generated every day, thus ensuring a continuous supply.
• Consistent water quality thanks to patented 4-stage purification processAfter pre-filtration, the water undergoes a 2-stage biological treatment processfollowed by UV disinfection.
The quality of the recycled clear water conforms to the EU Bathing Water Directive.
• Fully automatic systemThe filter is automatically backwashed at regular intervals, thereby sucking out thesediments from stages 1 and 2.
• Low operating costsThe power consumption amounts to 1 – 1.2kW per treated cubic metre of clear water, depending on the size of the installation.

An exact calculation for the pump and using
high efficency motors and speed control systems
will reduce the energy consumption.
Systems for Rain water utilisation and
Grey water recycling reduce water consumption.
All of them help to protect our
environment!
