In 1951 water availability was about 3450 m3.In

1999,water availability declined to 1850 m3

In 2002 ,water availability declined to 1200 m3

heading towards the Water crisis.

comparatively only 2.5 percent of the earth's land mass

and 4 percent of its water resources.

128 million lack safe water. Rivers are turning into

waste, take an example of Yamuna becoming

polluted and one of the important source for Delhi

water.

India is said to be Thirsty Giant. Indian wells are 4 times or more

deeper. And Increasing dependency on pumps.

Aquifers Condition 60% will be in critical position after 15

years

Water Blocks 29% water blocks are over exploited. Are

in semi critical & critical condition.

By 2025 Estimated 60 per cent of ground water

blocks will be in a critical condition

India Largest user of Ground Water. With

estimated use of 230 cubic Km of water

every year.

Ground Water Block Out of 5723 , 1615 has been notified as

semicritical and critical

Impacting bussiness 83% respondent in survey conducted by

US based Columbia Water centre said

water scarcity impacts business growth.

Sewage Water treatment Only 10-15% sewage water is treated. If

this can be improved, country water crisis

can be solved upto an extent.

Solution to Problem

Rain Water Harvesting : Though it unpredictable. But even if 60-

70% of rain water is harvested successfully , help to solve

the problem.

Rooftop rainwater harvesting systems are now mandatory for new

buildings in 18 of India’s 28 states and 4 of its 7 federally-

administered union territories.

: Only 60% of Industrial waste and 30% of Domestic waste water is

treated

Proper System for transportation of Water. As lot of water got

wasted

Checks in the cities : For the closure of open

taps in parks, public places, toiltes etc

Awareness in Public. And making them

educated
