In Japan & European countries, they have 7 steps of segregation. Here, we can have 3 steps, i.e

� Blue bins for Inorganic Waste like Plastics, metals etc

� Green bins for Organic & Garden Waste

� Red bins for Medical Waste

If primary segregation is done, secondary segregation will be easy and in turn improves the processing time.

A key for Segregation to succeed is Decentralisation.

� Primary Segregation: should be done at the individual house level and goes to the nearest Municipal Resource Recovery Centre

� Secondary Segregation: should be done at the processing centre

� 10% additional FAR is to be allowed in cases of green buildings and certification of green buildings will be done by designated authorities/agencies to be notified

� For environmental protection, government needs to workout on incentives and penalties.

� For example: For a Green builder, there has to be a government initiative such as FSI of 10% extra and for an individual , property tax has to be reduced by 5%.
