Washington County Public Schools Annual Art ExhibitionApril 16, 2016 – May 1, 2016 (Primary Schools) May 7, 2016 – May 22, 2016 (Middle and High Schools) The works of art from K-12 students fill the museum’s largest gallery and showcase the dedication of the Washington County Public Schools. Along the Eastern Road: Hiroshige’s Fifty-Three Stations of the TokaidoApril 16, 2016 – June 26, 2016 — This outstanding exhibition features 55 revolutionary wood-block prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797–1858), recording the scenic views along the famous “Eastern Road” that linked Edo (now Tokyo) with Kyoto, the ancient imperial capital of Japan. This popular series, known as the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Road, was published in 1833–1834 and established Hiroshige’s reputation as the foremost artist of the topographical land-scape. This exhibition was organized by the Reading Public Museum, Reading, PA. Sponsored by The Hershey Family Foundation and the Waltersdorf Family Fund at the Washington County Community Foundation
