Washington, D.C. Our Nation’s Cap ital Thursday - Monday March 12 - 16, 2020 The Lifetime Learning Center is pleased to announce our first Travel and Learn Adventure to visit Washington, D.C. This will be a five-day excursion departing New Bern on March 12 and returning on Monday, March 16. From campus we travel directly to the Rocky Mount train station to board Amtrak’s train on the Silver Star Route. We arrive in D.C. by mid-afternoon to meet our local guide who has planned a comprehensive tour for the Lifetime Learning Center. Our tour Features: Transfer to and from New Bern to Rocky Mount train station Round-trip on Amtrak - Silver Star and Carolinian Routes - Washington D.C. 4-night stay at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill D.C. Metro Pass Service of professional tour guide who lives locally - Wesley Glass Six (6) Group Meals (4 Breakfasts,1 Lunch and 1 Dinner) Guided visits to: Library of Congress Supreme Court Building National Museum of the American Indian A Walking Monuments Tour including the World War II Memorial Museum of African American History and Culture National Portrait Gallery A free afternoon (Georgetown, Zoo, Shrine, National Cathedral) Museum of the American Indian This tour will be different from past LLC travel experiences as the group will not have a motorcoach. Transportation will be by train and the D.C. Metro system. Our professional local guide, Wesley Glass, will be there to help us learn about the city and navigate public transportation. Participants should expect to walk 3 to 5 miles per day. We will pace our walking tours to match the pace of our group. We have selected a hotel, the Hyatt Regency, that is centrally located near public transportation and within two blocks of the National Mall.
