SEPARATE MANAGEMENT-The public school system under
Us present management that isthe white saperintendetitDrChanc-eHor and the colored assistantRoscoe Bruce is not at
acceptable to the people of thiscity The present managementwants to destroy or upset in twomoats what it took years of toilaDd patience to build
It must be admitted that the col-
ored schools were successfully man-
aged for over a quarter of a cca-
tary by Mr George F T Cooka better and a more polished schol-
ar never existed than heThe colored schools had an en-
tire colored supervision andfew if any scandals ever existedNone so far as the management-
of the colored schools were con-
cernedCompare if you ieasethe
itates under Mr Cook and thoseof today and see if they arethe superiors
Roscoe Conkra Bruce is a dis-
appointment It was a blunder ofDr Chancellor to have appointedhim The people are not at allsatisfied and the best interests ofthe colored schools demand imme-
diate change in its head and sepa-
rate supervision The people ap-
peal to Congress to allow themcontrol their own schools as here-
tofore Hundreds of teachers arebeing oppressed by constant meet-
ings after the regular school hoursNumerous lectures are unneces-
sary model meetings What good
are these meetings Why shouldregular teachers be required
to teach these model lessons whenthere are model teachers graduated-for the business
There is a reign of terror incolored schools Su h as never before existed What relief has theteacher under the present school
system The appointment of the
present school head was a mistake
Just low soon relief will come
the teachers who are under mentaland physical strain The Bee can
only hopeTo school at 830 no time for
lunch A model lesson by those
whose business it is to attendtheir regular school duties Re-
main in school from 830 am to
430 pm Supemscks lecturefrom 5 pm tos 6 or 630 pm Theteacher must listen to a long ha-
rangue on some long chapter from
an educational journal that theycould read when time permitted
them to doMany of the teachers are afraid
to say that they have a soul Inthe name of justice andThe Bee appeals to the Board of
Education in behalf of these op-
pressed teachers to give them im-
mediate relief It is unfair Itis unjust to the faithfulbenefactors of the youth If Con-
gressional relief does not come
many of those faithful teach-
ers will be in their graves Manyof them are resigning in factsome-of the best teachers have resigned
Let the colored schools havetheir own officers

fairplay should not fail to registerWhen the judges of election recently appointed by the NationalCommittee issue their call and designate the time and places for reg-
istration Republicans should remember that when the time is nam-
ed for voting they should careful-
ly scrutinize the records of thosewho ask for their suffrages Lethim first ask What has this mandone for the party and for theRepublicans who have be n disfranchised in the District of Co-
mmbia Has any effort been madeby these candidates to secure theseRepublicans Has man orthat man raised his voice in de-
fense of our two hunjdredsoldiers from the army
Has he attacked the discrimination-
in public inns and upon commoncarriers Has the candidate
to protect your childrenand your daughters in the public
schools Has any attempt beenmade by these candidates who nowask for your ote to denounce theattempted discrimination at thesepublic comfort stations All ofthese things should be carefullyconsidered by the Republicanswho-will be called upon to vote for delegates to the next National Repub-
lican ConventionThe silkstocking Republicans-
are only heard of every four yearsThey are never seen and neitherare their voices raised in behalf of
the oppressedSuch Republicans as Hon Oscar-
J Ricketts expublic printer DrA S Richardson in South Wash-
ington true and tried men shouldbe remembered by the colored Republicans especially Mr SidneyBieber who appointed more col
ored men in the Fire Department-and at present one of the judges ofelection and Mr Cranford are men
who have safely guarded the in
terest of the colored Republicanswho are largely in the majority in
this cityThe Bee does not know whether
any of the above men would serve
or not but it will suggest that
the friends of colored Republicans
and not their enemies should beelected as delegates
Someone suggested the propri-
ety of sending two white Repub-
licans If any such attempt is
made by any white Republican to
spring such an issue it will beto the party Colored Re-
publicans are willing tobe fairantldo their duty in the selection of twogood white Republicans one as adelegate and one as alternate One
colored delegate and one coloredalternate
The next Nationalshould be a man who will
have sand and inuennce enough toreach the executive departments
The selection of such a man is im-
portant to Destrict Republicans
DISTRICT POLITICIANS-In the District of Columbia there
are several classes of politicians
The most deceiving and the mosttrick is the pot housed politi-
cian He is a gentleman of leis-
ure This class will represent himself to the candidate as the mostpowerful in the city Nothing is
impossible for this class to do No
man is a stranger but every man
is a weak individual No man is
honest in the eyes of this class
but every man is a thief and with
out influence in the eyes of the pot-
house politicianThere is another class of politi
cians that claims to represent the
good and the clean otherwise the
reformers Reformers in all
communities are who are
opposed to successful operators in
any enterprise They are the outs
against the ins It is one setof thieves endeavoring to remove
another set of successfulj
The Bee has never known poli
tics to be cleaned Since the ad
journment of the National Cora
mittte the pot house politiciani the reformers and otherwise areclamoring for alleged clean menPoint out clean men in any gameof chance and The Bee will namean angel in disguise The mostamusing thing in District politics-
is the cry of the bankrupts for

We also urge our brother ministersin all denominations to speak out mcommendation and indorsement of RonJoseph B Foraker
The resolutions speak in no uncertainsound and reflect the sentiments of thegreat mass of the colored voters of thiscountry and it will be well for theRepublican party to heed the almostunanimous sentiments of the colored element of the party in selecting the nominee in
