Washburn Weekly Update October 21 to October 25, 2019 ****************************************************************************** Professor Edward Torres, Headmaster, Washburn School Director, Washburn English Institute Greetings: I big thank you to all the parents or guardians who came to the school to speak with the teachers concerning your son or daughter’s academic progress on Friday, October 18, during the parent- teacher conference. If you were not able to attend, do not hesitate to make an appointment with the teacher by calling the main office. .Reminders and activities this week: 1) Wednesday, October 23, Culminating Activities for Hispanic Heritage Month. As you already know, we have been celebrating this month since September 16. Each homeroom teacher selected from a hat a Spanish- speaking country, and each grade has been learning about the selected country. On Wednesday, each grade will showcase its respective country. The activities will take place in each homeroom. You are cordially invited to attend the culminating activities. The schedule will be as follows: 8:00 am -9:00 am Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten 9:00 am -10:00 am First to Third Grade 10:00 am-11:00 am Forth to Sixth Grade 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm Seventh to Twelfth Grade NOTE: The secondary level activities will take place at the Community College. 2) Thursday, October 24, 11 th and 12 th Grade will be taking the College Board Entrance Examination . Como ya es de su conocimiento, desde el pasado domingo, 15 de septiembre estamos celebrando el Mes de la Hispanidad. Cada grupo seleccionó un país y durante esta celebración han estado estudiando la influencia hispana en el desarrollo de cada uno. El miércoles, 23 de octubre se llevará a cabo la actividad de culminación de este mes. Cada grupo ha preparado actividades alusivas al país. Estas actividades se llevarán a cabo en el salón de clases junto a su maestra de salón hogar. Se les invita para que compartan con sus hijos y celebren todos juntos nuestra herencia hispana. El horario será el siguiente: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Pre-Kinder y Kinder 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Primero a Tercer grado 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Cuarto a Sexto grado 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Séptimo a Duodécimo grado- las actividades se llevarán a cabo en el Community College El jueves, 24 de octubre los estudiantes de 11mo y 12mo grado estarán tomando la prueba de admisión universitaria del College Board. Esta prueba se administrará de 8:00 a.m. a 12:00 m.d. En la tarde tendrán las clases regulares, según el horario correspondiente. Les recordamos que el próximo jueves, 31 de octubre, habrá horario especial, debido a que los maestros tomaran un taller de desarrollo profesional. El horario será de periodos de 30 minutos para los grados Pre-Kinder a 6to y de 40 minutos para los grados de 7mo a 12mo. El periodo del almuerzo queda igual, según están acostumbrados. La hora de salida será escalonada.
