2019 ABOUT PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION SOCIETY

Progressive Education Society is a reputed and distinguished educational institution

in Maharashtra. Honorable, Late Shankarrao Kanitkar, along with his selfless

dedicated team of teachers known for the highest moral values, laid the foundation of

the Society on the auspicious day of 'Akshay Tritiya' on 16th May 1934 in Pune.

The two remarkable words that appear in the names of the Society and its educational

institutions are "Progressive" and "Modern". The inclusion of these words was

certainly with some noble intentions, which serves as a bright beacon for Progressive

Education Society to follow with determination. 'Progressive' means keeping with the

spirit of times and innovation while 'Modern' means Modern in outlook, up-to-date in

all matters whether it is an academic, sports or cultural activities. It was resolved to

use modern equipment and modern methodology to teach the students.

The aims and objectives of the Progressive Education Society as laid down in its

Constitution are to impart generally to the rising generations of this country and

particularly to the residents of Maharashtra, an efficient Pre-primary, Primary,

Secondary, Higher Secondary and Collegiate education, embodying a literacy,

scientific, technical, commercial and industrial training and the training of teachers by

the establishment at Pune and other places in the Maharashtra State, as

circumstances permit, of Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary Schools

and Colleges or by such other means as may be most conducive to the attainment of

the aims and objects of the Society.

Modern College of Commerce and Computer Studies was started in year 2009. The fee

structure of Modern College of Commerce and Computer Studies is well within the

reach of poor and middle class students. Our mission is to develop competent,

committed and compassionate leaders who will make a difference to the people

among whom they work. It constantly scans the developments in business and in

society and tries proactively to meet the challenges

Technology is advancing day by day. New institutions are launched every year in and

around Pune city. Every institute is trying its best to give the best possible facilities to

the students. However, it is our commitment to the students and parents that Modern

College of Commerce and Computer Studies will definitely honor 2 words which are

important to the management of Progressive Education Society i.e "Progressive" and

"Modern"

2019 ABOUT COLLEGE

The students admitted in the college come from different socio-economic background.

They face different challenges. The college is focusing on training as well as industry

interaction so as to impart knowledge and prepare competent employees as stated in

the mission statement of our college. The college has well planned academic schedule,

curricular delivery and monitoring. This is reflected in examination results and

placements. The college has initiated capacity building program to assist the students

to rise to their fullest potential which is also one of our mission statements. The

holistic development approach will help us in addressing challenges due to different

socio-economic background of students and empower them.

As per the new University act, college development committee is constituted. Through

Strength Weaknesses Opportunities Challenges (SWOC) analysis, we identified that

the faculty is the strength of our college. Safety and security of girl students is

considered at highest priority. With the support of faculty and students, we will strive

for continuing women empowerment. Our focus is on imparting holistic Education,

develop a community of scholars with talent and expertise that will participate in

excellence and national development. I wish that our students will Come forward to

learn, go forth to serve and excel into the world with great strength, not only to do job

but to remain beautiful human beings.

A. PLACEMENT DRIVE 29 JUNE 2019

Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of Commerce and Computer Studies

invited company “IXFI FINANCE” on campus under Placement Drive activity. The

placement cell of MCCCS aims at making placement opportunities for the students of

the college. The placement cell acts as interface between the students of the college

and industry.

The Placement Cell of Modern College of Commerce and Computer Studies, Nigdi.

conducted a Pool Campus Drive for the academic year 2019-20 on 29 June 2019 for

IXFI Finance. The session was inaugurated by Deputy Secretary, PES Shri. S. D.

Inamdar, Principal Dr. S. L. Shirgave , Academic Coordinator Prof. Manoj Sathe, Mr. Jay

Arora and Training & Placement officer Prof Yugandhara R. Patil.

Mr. Jay Arora, HR, IXFI Finance gave introductory session about the company. Around

200 candidates were registered for the drive from the different colleges. The

registrations were done through Google form. 160 candidates attended the interview.

In all, 18 candidates got selected out of which Ms.Neha Ghatge and Ms Prajakta

Kulkarni were the students of PES MCCCS ,who got placement in IXFI Finance.

2019 Team of twelve HR from IXFI visited the college for Placement Drive. The Placement

drive was conducted for BBA, B.Com, and BBA (CA). The annual CTC offered by the

company was 3.25 Lac - 4.25 Lac. With the relentless efforts, MCCCS Placement Cell is

growing from strength to strength and is striving towards ultimate goal of 100%

placement for the students.

B. PLACEMENT DRIVE 04 JULY 2019

SWIPE”. The session was inaugurated by Deputy Secretary, PES Shri. S. D. Inamdar,

Principal Dr. S. L. Shirgave, Academic Coordinator Prof. Manoj Sathe, Mr.Manish, Mr

Nipun and Training & Placement officer Prof Yugandhara R. Patil.

Mr. Manish, HR, MSWIPE gave introductory session about the company. 70 candidates

were registered for the drive from the different colleges. The registrations were done

through Google form. 55 candidates attended the interview. In all 13 candidates got

selected of PES MCCCS ,who got placed in MSWIPE.

2019 C. YOGA DAY FOR HARMONY AND PEACE 13 JULY 2019

Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of Commerce and Computer Studies,

Yamuna Nagar, Nigdi had organised ‘ International Yoga Day - Yoga for Harmony And

Peace..’ program for students in presence of Honourable Principal Dr. Sadashiv

Shirgave and Prof. Manoj Sathe under guidance of Dr. Vikas Chothe (MD Ayurveda,

FIIM, SOPHE (USA)Ex. Yoga Ambassador(Armenia) QCI Yoga Examiner and Yoga

School Auditor (Ministry of AYUSH) Ayurveda and Veda Consultant, Mrs. Lata

Hiremath and Mrs. Priyadarshini Rajarajan. Event was executed with intention to

create health awareness, strengthen physical and mental health of students as well as

staff. Prof. Manoj Sathe has felicitated guest by offering saplings as a token with

thought of enhancing awareness for nurture trees.

Dr. Vikas Chothe enlightened their views on Yoga as a way for healthy lifestyle and

conduct basic demos with students. Students asked queries and Dr. Vikas Chothe have

directed students with justification of Ayurveda and Veda theories. Student Siddharth

Thokale had taken initiative by anchoring and vote of thanks for this event. Program

was successfully accomplished with presence of faculty as Dr. Prof. Dinkar Chavan,

Prof. Deepti Yadav and Prof. Anuja Dhorje.

D. PLACEMENT DRIVE 13 JULY 2019

“IDFC Bank”. The session was inaugurated by Deputy Secretary, PES Shri. S. D.

Inamdar, Principal Dr. S. L. Shirgave, Academic Coordinator Prof. Manoj Sathe, Mr.

Arpit –Sales Manager and Training & Placement officer Prof Yugandhara R. Patil.

Team of one sales Manager and one HR from IDFC Bank visited the college for drive.

The Placement interview were for various courses like BBA, B.Com, BBA(CA).The

annual salary offered by the company was 2.0 Lac. With the relentless support MCCCS

Placement cell is growing from strength to strength and is striving towards ultimate

goal of 100% placement for the students.

E. INDUCTION PROGRAMME 18 JULY 2019

Induction day program was organised by Modern College of Commerce and Computer

Studies, Nigdi on 18th july 2019 for F.Y.B.Com/ F.Y.B.B.A./ F.Y.B.B.A.(CA) Students .

The program started by enlightening of lamp and national anthem after that the chief

guest Prof. Rajendra More, Dr Amita Manjre and Inamdar sir was welcome by giving

sapling as token of respect.

Principal Dr. Sadashiv Shirgave addressed the students by giving detail information

about the college, courses, life in college and challenges faced by students after the

college with his examples and motivational stories. Shri D. D. Inamdar, Deputy

Secretary, PES gave details about Progressive Education Society, shared his

knowledge and experience with the students by giving real life examples. The

program continued with the distribution of trophies for the last year toppers of the

college. Event Guest Rajendra More with experience of 22 years in the army medical,

focused on life management techniques. He also focused on importance of time

management and focused on value and belief. The Last speaker for the event was Dr.

Amita Manjre highlighted on health related facts and stress management issues faced

by the current generation. She also focused on importance of diet and exercise for

healthy and stress free life. Program ended with the vote of thanks delivered by two

anchors Nihal and Pratiksha. Students were happy with the induction program and

motivational words of all the speakers. Activity has been co-ordinated by Prof.

Ravikiran Kakade, Prof. Vaibhavi Patki and Prof. Reshma Tamboli.

F. PARENTS’ MEET 25 JULY 2019

Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of commerce and Computer Studies,

Yamuna Nagar, Nigdi had arranged Parents’ Meet for B.Com. B.B.A. and B.B.A.(C.A.)

25 July 2019 to discuss about students progress and performance. The Parents were

intimated about the meeting in advance through Phone Calls and SMS by Class

2019 coordinators. The meeting was conducted at Seminar Hall, Main Building from 9.30

AM to 1.00 PM.

Mr. Rajendra More, NLP Therapist, Counselling Psychologist and Sunil Joshi,

Founder Finance Forum were invited as Chief Guest. Mr. Rajendra More Addressed

parents regarding students psychology, parent relationship with their child, how to

handle emotions of students etc. with demonstrations act. Mr. Sunil Joshi addressed

the parents regarding the further scope in the commerce field, careers in commerce

etc.

2019 Shri. S. D. Inamdar Deputy Secretary, Progressive Education Society addressed

the parents. Principal Dr. S.L. Shirgave addressed the parents about the college and

the activities to be held by the college in academic year 2019-20. There were about

200 parents who attended the Parent Meet. One to One Interaction between Parents

and Class Coordinators was executed for student progression. Discussion was focused

on student’s specific strengths and weakness and students discipline in classrooms

and students Psychology.

Under “Go Green” initiative, college distributed saplings for each of the parents as

the token of respect. Principal Dr. Sadashiv Shirgave motivated the parents to plant

the saplings and appealed that the growth of the saplings and the progress of their

child would develop in the same nature and asked to send a selfie with planted tree

towards college. Parents expressed their happiness for having their ward studying in

Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of commerce and Computer Studies.

They also expressed their gratitude regarding the care taken by the College for the

growth of their wards
