Welcome to our Double ‘County’ Celebration I am delighted to welcome you as we celebrate the amazing talent of young people in

Warwickshire and I am very proud that the Warwickshire Music Hub is able to provide a

platform for such talent. These are interesting times for music education and I am reminded of

this line from A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens:

‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’.

Sadly there is little doubt that music education in some schools is reducing as schools feel

somewhat forced to focus on English Baccalaureate or Progress 8 subjects.

However, it is also true that some schools are fighting hard to retain a broad and balanced

curriculum and to keep arts in general and music in particular as high profile subjects.

It should also be recognised that the Warwickshire Music Hub benefits enormously from our

Arts Council funding that enables us to maintain our fantastic network of music centre groups;

culminating in the high standard of our county groups.

Our two ‘County’ concerts feature groups representing what we all believe in; allowing our

young people to find their talent and have a platform in which to ‘show off’ that talent to us

all.

We are delighted to welcome the choir from Campion School - representing around 200

schools that the Warwickshire Music Hub supports every year. The fabulous Warwickshire

Choristers represent the value of partnerships within the Hub as they set the highest possible

standards for boys’ singing in Warwickshire. Vocal Generation does exactly what the name says

– bringing together singers of all ages to share the sheer enjoyment that singing offers

everyone.

Our County groups continue to thrive and thrill us all with their wonderfully high standards and

it is particularly exciting to welcome two very new county groups – the County Guitars and the

County Chorale.

Indeed, so good that we welcome two brand new County groups performing at these concerts: County Guitars directed by Steve George and Warwickshire Youth Chorale directed by Garry Jones.
