A big hello...
Now, more than ever people are looking around their picturesque towns and wondering where all the lovely little shops we used to visit have gone. We thought the same. The independents are important, they provide lots of towns with a community and a heart, give much needed customer service or even just a friendly ‘hello’.
We hope you enjoy reading through our book almost as much as we enjoyed putting it together! We got to meet some lovely people, found some fantastic businesses and drank far too much coffee!
take your time! ...the yourindies.com team!
Lovely Leamington
In 1878 Leamington began its expansion due to the medicinal properties in the water, thus the birth of the Royal Pump Rooms and Baths. The spa treatments were claimed to cure a large number of disorders such as stiffness of tendons, but now there are alternative methods to choose from with an overwhelming variety of bars, restaurants and shops.
Leamington as managed to hold on to its soul, where we have seen other towns suffer in this climate, there is still an array of independent coffee shops, small bars and little hideaway places that deserve recognition. It was impossible to meet all the indies in Leamington, as we are still finding new ones, even to this day. We have here only a selection of what’s on offer to wet your appetite. We recommend you go and find your favourite places to eat, drink and shop. For us, there were just too many to choose from.
Leamington Spa
Our designer collections for this season includes: Fleur de Sel, She’s So, D Exterior, Bleu Blanc Rouge, Isabel de Pedro, Crea, Indies, Save the Queen, Mais il est ou le soleil, Lauren Vidal..to name a few.
Our Mother of the Bride, Bridesmaid and Prom/Evening Dresses are all this seasons styles. We also stock shoes, bags, hats and fascinators (also available for hire) for all occasions.
We also offer a bespoke bag design service by Owen Barry.

Shire’s namesake- Warwick
The true Heart of England, where it all began, and not much has changed, Warwick castle stays home to a lively and historically beautiful town, full of atmosphere, friendly people and our favourite independents. Having not properly visited Warwick in a while, we were under the assumption, like most people that it was lost in the ages, deprived of what Leamington and Stratford had to offer.
This isn’t the case, and we now stand by our statement that Warwick has more to offer than its surrounding towns, with an array of fantastic independents that have so much to offer. We highly recommend a visit to Warwick, it is full of passion which is portrayed in its indies, take Art & Wine, a beautifully atmospheric place born from a love of, you guessed it, art and wine. A perfect combination in our eyes!

A range of fresh produce which is continually evolving
Excellent service, the best quality fresh meat, and the opportunity to buy carefully sourced local produce - are the reason our customers keep coming back to us time after time, with ever increasing recommendations to friends and family helping us grow organically.
We select our meat exclusively from suppliers in Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire because we’re passionate about supporting local farmers and reducing food
miles. Rumps of Warwick is a family butcher shop with a difference. We believe in providing our customers with the best quality meat for tasty family meals every day.
We also recognise that nowadays, many people entertain at home and enjoy the social activity of cooking and eating together, so the use of local meat with a provenance, in conjunction with expert advice on cuts and there suitability to a given recipe is an important part of our role as a specialist retailer.

present days
Present Days opened in October 1977 as a small ‘two-roomed’ shop selling mainly cards and stationary. It is housed in a Georgian fronted three-storey building that dates back to before the Great Fire of Warwick.
It is old and wonky with nooks and crannies and odd little corners, beams and spiders (they don’t come out during the day!) and is loved by us, our staff and our many loyal customers who come from far and wide to shop at Present Days.
Over the years the shop has expanded backwards and upwards and now stocks items such as you see on these pages plus many others too numerous or transient to mention. As your eyes move around the floor-to-ceiling displays of jolly lovely cards, glittering jewellery, Bridgewater pottery, fabulous illustrated children’s books, perfect wedding presents, wonderful colourful animals just waiting to be hugged, wrapped, kept or loved.
All our stock changes lots for spring, Easter, sweet little chicks and cardboard eggs), summer (for outdoor living) and of course masses of Christmas stuff, twinkling lights and unusual adornments.
Upstairs is an eclectic mix of clothes for all ages of ladies, featuring the quirky, comfortable and covetable. There is something for everyone and everybody (including dogs) are welcome.

Nestled in the picturesque Warwickshire village of Oxhill, The Peacock offers everything you could possibly want from a traditional country pub.Award-winning food, a superb selection ofhand-pulled ales and continental lagers and a wine list that is both imaginative and well priced. But the best thing of all about The Peacock is the atmosphere. Friendly, relaxing and fun -The Peacock is popular with locals and visitors alike.
At the helm are Pam Farrell and chef Yvonne Hamlett who took over the pub almost two years ago. A winning team, they organise regular special events such as Jazz in the Garden and themed food nights and have raised thousands of pounds for various local charities.

Sunny Stratford
To visit the poetic town of Stratford is a wonderful experience. There is something in the town that makes you glad to be there every time you return. Whether its the picturesque river, the abundance of superb restaurants or the atmosphere on a summers night. Stratford-upon-Avon is a town with a great deal of history. First established as an Anglo-Saxon market town, it became famous for being William Shakespeare’s birthplace and home. Even his house and other buildings connected to him got famous, they’re now tourist attractions! Scattered around town are
some quaint old buildings owned by Shakespeare and his family, unmissable to those interested in the local history. Once you’re all Shakespeared out, there are plenty of shops, many of them independent sellers that operate out of good old-fashioned timber-framed period houses. When you’ve shopped ’till you dropped and want of a bite to eat, there’s plenty of choice, whether you want a hearty pub lunch or just a quick snack at a tea shop. And if none of this strikes your fancy, you could always go boating on the Avon.

Secret Shipston Tip toeing around the Cotswolds is Warwickshire’s hidden market town. We experienced its subtle charm as we strolled among its wonderful combination of pubs, restaurants, hotels and shops.
Home to some wonderful well established indies, we remembered shopping ecstatically in Walrus as children and now we have the pleasure of using our own, as an excuse to go back again!
An unmissable event is the Shipston proms, a music festival held in the summer, which allows
local talent to showcase their musical abilities. The bars and pubs are host to what can only be described as a huge street party bringing the community together, with visitors from the rest of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds. Absolutely Unmissable!
We all agreed over here that Shipston is the ‘upcoming’ town to visit, we think you will feel the same.

Taste of the Country sell a broad range of foods from many local and British producers and our own kitchen. The range is further complemented by a “Taste of the World” section that provides the foods we love but are not produced on our Island. The Shops are bursting with fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, free-range meats, cheeses, bread and groceries. An ever-expanding range of foods is hand made, using the finest ingredients, by the cooks in the Shipston shop kitchen. Ready to reheat meals, quiches and savouries are very popular. The cakes, slices and biscuits are addictive and lunchtime foods and snacks extremely well received. Children love our gingerbread characters and window displays; they also stay occupied in our play area while their parents shop.

Easy peasyMy indie shop is simple and easy to use.
Even my mum could use this. Shoppers find
the product they would like to buy, click on it,
then click ‘add to basket’.
Carry on shopping Oooh matron! What a carry on! We don’t
want to limit anyone’s choices, so let’s carry
on shopping after adding products to the
basket. We also like to incentivise shoppers
by building in free delivery wherever possible.
Keeping it simple
We’re not going to over-complicate the
buying process with crazy graphics whacking
around. What we are going to do is provide
an easy to use, robust sales platform that
makes sense.
Basket case
Lets go crazy and make it easy for people to
increase their order. Another chance to add
more to the basket with a click of the plus
button. We like people ordering more, it’s
just one of our wacky traits.
When you wish upon a star
(or anything else), we’ll make sure it’s
remembered. We’ve added a wish list to help
customers find things when they return to
the site. All with lovely little pictures, aaw.

Simpler than managing SpursYou don’t have to be a football manager to
run this show. Forget complicated rule books
and technical jargon. We’ve built a space you
can really use to put all your useful things
in. We call it the ‘boot room’. Using simple
graphics and plain English, it helps you to get
on and sell quickly.
Team SupportAs a management team, our skills encompass
technical excellence, marketing expertise
with proven brand development and the
ability to push the businesses forward. We
understand what it needs to grow our
proposition successfully in the market-place.
In year one we realistically predict 800 new
e-commerce sign-ups. Our longer term
goal, is to develop a national network with
upwards of 2,000 independents from a current
market of 30,000 independents in the UK.
Say Cheese
We’d like to find out a bit more about you
and how you work, all you have to do is
answer a few questions to get things started.
Oh, we’d also like a nice smiley picture of you
to put on your indie shop page.
(not too cheesy though!)
