Our Special Brady Brady in Foundation S is a very special individual with a great spirit. Check out the article on the front page of this week’s Leader for the full story. Great work Brady.

From Mia

On Friday the 30th of May, 25 students from middle

school attended a workshop to learn about Reconcilia-tion Week and the indigenous culture. The children thoroughly enjoyed the history and artefacts shared by the facilitators. The highlights were watching them throw boomerangs on the oval, learning the wallaby and emu dance moves and listening to rap on the did-geridoo.

Want to enjoy your kids? Want to enjoy being a parent? Tori Ped-ro’s website www.teach-through-love.com has a wealth of infor-mation on parenting tools and supports in understanding and managing your child’s behaviour.

Assistant Principal’s Report Cross Country Team Congratulations to our committed Cross Country run- ners who gave their all on Tuesday morning running through the rain, fog and slush at the Park Orchards 100 Acres Reserve. A big thanks to all the parents who made the effort to get down to Domeney Reserve and were able to shuttle the students back home for a quick warm shower and hot choccy afterwards. Well done also to Rod Neal, Chris Turner and Andrew Tonkin for their efforts in preparing the team and supporting them on the day. Early Morning Supervision Concerns Over the past few weeks it is becoming noticeable that some students are arriving at school earlier and earlier, some as early as 8am in the morning and being left unsupervised in the yard. It is wonderful to know that Warranwood kids want to be at school and can’t wait to get here however we must ask that parents keep them at home until 8.45am unless booked into OSH Club Before School Care Program. With winter now setting in it is also freezing in the yard and often wet and windy so please keep the students at home until a suitable time to arrive at school. At Warranwood staff undertake to have doors to classrooms open by 8.45am each morning and some even earlier de-pending on meetings and commitments they may have on the day. This is a great way for teachers and parents or stu-dents to touch base at the start of a day and ensure a great start to the day. We also ensure yard supervision in the morn-ing from 8.45am and afternoons until 3.45pm. Yesterday morning we had an incident with a student crossing the road by themselves, before the crossing supervisors had arrived. We were lucky that a passer by was able to assist and prevent a dangerous situation arising. Crossing super-visors are on duty from 8am -9.05am in the morning so please ensure your child isn’t crossing before these times. STAFF VS PARENT’S SHOWDOWN Trivia Night Challenge- Eye Of the Tiger! Forget Collingwood vs Essendon, Australia vs England or Liverpool Vs Man. United. The big ticket rivalry is hap-pening right here on your doorstep! Saturday night 14 June the Warranwood Gym will be a battleground of wits and conniving trickery as the staff take on the parent teams to reclaim their title! Have you booked your table for the HUUUGE trivia night event on Saturday, 14 June? In the red corner we have THE WARRANWOOD STAFF and in the blue corner we have the PARENT CHALLENGERS. Hurry and get your tickets before it’s too late to witness this once in a lifetime SHOWDOWN. Let the battle begin!

Wellbeing at Warranwood Warranwood Peer Mediation Team At Warranwood we are lucky to have committed and caring Year 5 students who volunteer their time to train as Peer Medi-ators and then work as a team each lunchtime to facilitate our Peer Mediation program. They support fellow students who have minor friendship issues and assist them to resolve their differences and play and get along successfully. Our Peer Me-diators also run lunchtime games for those students who might like to join in and have some fun. They show amazing insight and pro-social skills to assist their fellow peers to sort their problems and move on in a positive way. Please remember to mention our Peer Mediators to your child if they ever come home with a problem. They are very enthusi-astic and capable to assist our students to sort their issues out before getting home and having a minor issue become larger over time as sometimes happens. Some of our Peer Mediators to look out for

Connect Groups at Warranwood

Following our Power Of 1 Bully busting presentation last week, Middle and Senior School Connect Groups explored the dynamics of a bullying relationship further and watched an inspirational clip from Britain’s Got Talent about two 12 yr olds that had experienced bullying and decided to work together to make a song/rap about it. After watching the clip students were put into teams and given some time to start creating their own Bullying rap or poem. To spice things up there is an I Tunes card for the winning team who will present at assembly in a few weeks. The teams have been asked to work together at lunch times or at home to develop their rap/poem and prepare. Our Foundation and Junior School Connect Groups are exploring how to be good friends and looking into the types of pro-social skills required to be a good friend. Behaviours and understandings such as sharing, listening, taking turns and having trust are focussed on through a range of games and activities to better equip our students for life in and out of the classroom. If you would like to watch the clip with your family have a box of tissues ready and take the chance to discuss the clip with your family. Link below

NORTH RINGWOOD PLAYGROUP

Playgroup is a wonderful way to prepare your child for pre-school. It is a relaxed environment (although chaotic at times!) where parents/carers can enjoy a cuppa and share parenting stories, and children can learn new play experiences and learn to play together. North Ringwood Playgroup is one of the largest and longest running playgroups in Victoria and has

been open since 1974. We are very popular with local families but are continually attracting families from surrounding suburbs, all from word of mouth. We have qualified attendants taking care of eve-

rything! Our range of indoor and outdoor activities means there is very little repetition and always some-thing new and exciting for the kids. New toys are purchased regularly so the quality is of a high standard and the kids are always interested.

North Ringwood Playgroup is located in the Scout Hall at the rear of the North Ringwood Reserve, Wonga Road, North Ringwood. Entry is off Wonga Road.

Sessions start at 9.15am-11.15am, Mon-Fri.

ENROLMENTS ARE NOW OPEN SO COME ALONG FOR A FREE TRIAL SESSION.
