1. Summarize the end of the book. (3-5 sentences)

2. What point is Fitzgerald trying to make by killing off Gatsby?  Gatsby’s dream does not come true, but Daisy stays with Tom, what is the point of that?

3. Gatsby dreamt of Daisy, he dreamt of love.  How did he go about trying to achieve his dream?  What does this aspect of the plot say about materialism?

Materialism - noun: preoccupation with or emphasis on material objects, comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or a rejection of spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values.

4. Why doesn’t anyone come to Gatsby’s funeral?  How does this figure into Fitzgerald’s commentary on wealth and status?
